I was told it's made by Crockett and Jones in the 240 last, which is specifically designed for BB's Peal line.

I really like the current crop of Black Fleece dress shoes. I just scored a pair of these nubucks in tan, and they are fantastic in person. C&J, I think?

I think the nail patter on the heel (and pricing) is consistent with C&J. Unlike the other BB C&J shoes, these get discounted pretty heavily at season end.

Thanks, gents. I did get these on sale. Not the 2-day flash sale, unfortunately - missed that. But I saw this pair in my size pop again and jumped on them, even before the current 25% off sale. Still a great deal. And great looking in person.

Has anybody had good or bad experiences with Brooks Brothers' "classic" penny loafers.  Based on their price, I'm assuming they are not as high of quality as their shoes manufactured by Peal, Crockett & Jones, etc.  But I can get them for $105 (they didn't have my size in stock during their recent sale, so they had to order them, and they just came in) and I'm wondering if they're a good buy for the price.  Even if they're not as nice as their other models, are they worth the price?  Because they're full-grain calfskin and Goodyear welted, they're probably higher quality than other shoes in that price range.

Are you sure it's full grain? Looks kind of plasticky in the pics.

Edit: BB wrote the following:

"The grain is buffed down to create a flat smooth base for the high gloss finish that the loafer requires. Also, the leather is full grain."

It sounds like corrected grain.
