above or below average?

So if the average age for something is, say, 18 years of age and you happen to do it at 16, does that make you below average because 16 is below 18 or above average because 16 comes before 18.

Above average skills/standard (of the norm at 16)

Below the average age at which it is done.

Depends on what the thing you did is.

For example, if you graduated high school at 16, then congrats Doogie, you are above average.

If however, you committed your first violent felony at 16, then sorry Tu-Pac, you are below average.
