you don't stop do you?

and just to point out how much of a dumbshit you are, I can explain a completely plausible situation where 40% would be given in a manner that isn't absurd to your plebe ass:

a lunch with friends, each pays for their own meal. your meal (simple entree and a non-alcoholic drink) comes out to 35$. you received great and courteous service from the waitress (who also happens to be very good looking and you had a conversation with) and you make it an even 50. use your head you creepy lolita fuck.

My brother lived with his girlfriend in Asheville, NC for several years. She waited tables at some trendy little bistro-like place. She said her worst tippers were groups of women and her best tippers were gay men. I never heard her mention any other stereotypes. She just couldn't stand the ladies doing lunches as they were demanding and cheap.

Over the years I have noticed the tip jar appearing on the counter of more and more establishments. Pretty soon the bank tellers are going to have tip jars.

I still greatly prefer a tipping jar then being handed a slip with a spot to add a tip for an establishment or situation that does not really warrant it. Take-out, coffee shop or dine in place you serve yourself. Tip jar is fine as it's not as in your face as handing me the slip and making me write a zero on it or put a line through it in front of the cashier.

Also, I have a question regarding tipping etiquette.

Car drivers, or cab drivers? Does the 20% rule apply here? What if your ride was $7? Is that at automatic $5 tip, or a dollar or two?

Food delivery people? I generally give a flat $10 for food delivery people. I am usually ordering just for myself so my bill is never that much, but does the distance to the restaurant make any difference? Does 20% apply here too?

Alterations tailors, do they get a tip?

It's a real Larry David situation.

Cabs and delivery people, usually hit them with about 10% or a little more if it rounds out nicely. I've never tipped an alterations person before.

Delivery people get the same no matter what the order cost......unless they have to take two trips up to my condo from their car because I had ordered like 50 pizzas, that would be different.

Matt I know you're confused. Tipping is when an individual goes to a restaurant like.. an Applebee's (I know you wouldn't go to such a place! the thought!!), and leaves an 'extra' thank you amount of money.

The worse is when you notice them looking directly at the slip while you do it. laugh.gif

I've always tipped based on this principle:

Quote:

Money paid to works isn't a gift. It is something they earn by working.

Romans 4:4

The harder someone works for me, the more money I'll give them. People who don't tip are modern day Pharisees.
