shape of the heel

is not normally seen even for bespoke shoes.

specifically, the very slanted heel stack.

Placed an order for a pair at the trunk show at Leffot tonight. Very excited.

I'm envious of you non city dwellers with your cheap real estate and lower taxes. :)

I ordered something likely to not be interesting to anybody on this board:

Black punch caps on the riva last in shell cordovan.

Yes. Allen actually heavily discouraged me from getting it because of that, and his general preference for calf. He made some negative comments about exotics, even though they will do it. He deemed anything other than calf, "unnecessary".

Also just visited the trunk show at Leffot. Great shoes. Almost snapped up a pair of dark brown suede double monks, before I remembered I'm already way over my shoe budget for the time being.

Allen? Or did you mean Phillip Car? May I ask how much was the upcharge for Cordovan, and are regular Calf still $1,600?

Ah, yes. Phillip. I don't know why I thought Allen for a second. Regular calf with custom trees is $1,650 at Leffot. I don't know what the upcharge is for shell. I suggest you contact Leffot directly. Steven said he hadn't worked it out yet. I ordered it anyway and just put down $1,000 in cash as a down payment.

Ahh, I see.

MTO w/ PRET Custom as quoted above actually refers to "Pret customization" by Saint Crispin's, where you can add or subtract width on a standard last. An example would be, I had 2 pairs made on UK7F, and later on figured out that they were too narrow. I recently sent my shoes back to Romania where their factory is, and requested it to be re-lasted on UK7.5F, with 3mm added to the toe adjustments. What they do is glue on some wood onto a standard last, and shave it off to millimeter precision as an adjustment to a standard last. I was quoted 60 euroes for adjusting the last, and 25 euro each for polishing and relasting my shoes.

I didn't do that. A size 9 fit better than any of my tons of shoes I already own did at first. They might be my new go-to brand. We will see.

That's pretty amazing though. I mean kind of like a MTM shoe with bespoke attention and handwork.

Do you have a picture of the model? I think black cordovan may be best like Vass "Alt Wien" or "Budapester" styles. I thought of getting something from St Crispins, but sadly my shoe budget for this year (an maybe for next) has been allocated to G&G when they visit next month.

No reason to go with other RTW brands once you figured out your PRET MTO customization, IMO. Maybe Vass if you have Vass customized (MTO bespoke) lasts.

Or go full bespoke.
