Brogued belt with Brogued shoes?

I just got some AE Strands in walnut. These are my first shoes with any sort of broguing. Are you supposed to wear a belt that has broguing on it with shoes like this? I personally do not like the look of broguing on a belt, but nordstrom has an AE belt on sale that matches these shoes. Opinions?

Nope. Not a requirement. Find a belt you like that's similar in color and you'll be fine. I go for simple leather belts from Banana Republic for 90% off (their typical sales)

Personally I think it's optional. Wear what you like! I wear my AE brogues with a basic wide dress belt and it seems work just fine! if anyone else has opinions, I'd be open to them as well.

Of course not. I don't think I've ever even seen a brogued belt.

Go simple on the belt. Over-decorated belts can do more to ruin a look than to improve it.

I wear the same mid-brown belt 90 percent of the time. Makes life simpler.

They're actually rather tastefully done.

I have 3 plain brown belts (walnut, chili and mid brown) that I use. I wouldn't mind getting one of the AE Manistee ones though. Matches my Fifth Aves well!

I look with suspicion upon any excessively ornamented belt. Or even slightly ornamented belt.

Those are the ones they had on sale at nordstrom. I am not really a fan of that belt. I think I will get the AE Wide Belt in Walnut when I can find one on sale. Until then I guess I will not wear the strands.

Off topic it is nice to have these shoes as I am finally gettibng somewhat of a shoe collection. AE Delrays, park aves and the strands. Ferragamo loafers, gucci loafers, cole haan loafers, and some bruno magli slip on rubber soled joints.

I agree that a belt of a complimentary colour will do the job fine. I have 2 brogue belts (1 brown, 1 burgundy) that I bought ages ago.
They get very little wear but I do enjoy them from time to time. Some would think it overkill but one in brown provides a nice occasional option.

Make sure all the leather in your entire wardrobe are EXACT color match (shoes, belt, watch band), all the metals are exact color.

OP, I'm sure you cannot go wrong with a brogue pattern belt, but it isn't a choice written in stone. Those linked by 'Unregistered' look swell.

FYI I found a belt at Lord and Taylor that perfectly matches the Walnut Strands for about $30 instead of the $100 from AE.
