Can't seem to play anything post-2009. Yeah, it sucks. Anyhoo, browsing that thing is a bitch and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations.

Screw Steam. Go retro. Go oldschoooool.
Age and when you started playing games?

Since I don't know what kinds of games you like, here are a few of some of the games I really like on Steam. I believe most of these have relatively low overheads in terms of system requirements.

- SpaceChem (review 1, review 2)

- Atom Zombie Smasher (review 1, review 2)

- Portal 2 assuming you don't have it already smile.gif (review 1, review 2)

- Capsized (review 1, review 2)

- Frozen Synapse (review 1, review 2)

- Sanctum (review 1, review 2)

- Braid (review 1, review 2)

And just to throw in some really EXCELLENT non-Steam games if you're interested -

- Solium Infernum (works in single-player, but to REALLY have fun, you need at least two other human opponents, friends preferably (and particularly, friends you will not hate after the game). Amazing turn-based strategy game) play diary LONG read, but worth it for the intrigue, lulz and makes for a great entry into the game, beginner's guide series, review, demo/buy link

- Immortal Defense (arty tower defense game with abstract graphics set to amazing music with a pretty nice storyline and narrative progression. It's also pay what you want now) review, demo/buy link.

I would recommend Team Fortress 2, which is now free to play.

Half-Life and Half-Life 2. Two of the best games ever.

Old school it!
Day of the Tentacle
Monkey Island
Grim Fandango

When Lucas Arts was still awesome.

Speaking of Lucas Arts, get the Jedi Outcast series.

You all all have glorious taste as I think I either have something suggested or have one of many suggestions in case of multiple suggestions. Will do some investigating. Also, I prefer fps or variations of fps, which makes me a philistine in the video game world, but it is what it is. And I'm going through Steam because it's convenient and I prefer it to theft for some odd reason.

In that case, F.E.A.R if you havent played it already.
And if you dont mind some seripusly jaggy graphics, play Thief series.

I think Grim Fandago is the winner, but I'm still checking out tons of other stuff suggested here.
