"Club 1000" Challenge

This evening I am attempting to join Club 1000. This entails doing 1000 pushups in 4 hours. My strategy is to do 25 pushups every 6 minutes for 4 hours straight. I have currently completed 250 pushups in 1 hour. I'll update the thread later.

If anyone else wants to join, post your numbers.

For those of you who hate meaningless personal challenges and achievements - keep typing away while I keep pushin 'em out.

I'm at 500 pushups in 2 hours. I'm on track, but my muscles are pretty tired. I'll be back after after 750.

i like this thread!

once or twice a week i do 10,20,30,40,50,60,60,50,40,30,20,10,30,30,30 in less than 45 minutes. it's 510 pushups. the hardcore one that prisoners do is 1000 in an hour. but a thousand in 4 hours is still very good. after 500 i'm done. but it gets easier and easier as the weeks go by

1000 in an hour sounds REALLLLLLLLY hard. That is 10 sets of 100 pushups every 6 minutes. Ridiculous.

Hit 750 in 3 hours. My chest is tired, but the real pain is coming from my triceps. I don't mean muscle burn, I mean pain. I'll stop being a pussy and do the rest. 250 more, and then I'm a member. See you in an hour, in glory.

That's very good. Do you have a fixed rest time on those sets?

For the record, my form has gotten a little sloppy. I am still touching my chest and waist to the floor and locking out my elbows, but it isn't pretty. 100 More to go!

1001 pushups in 4 hours. The tendons/ligaments in my arm near my tricep/elbow hurt. I'm sure I will regret this endeavor tomorrow. But tonight, I am a champion.

All bullshitting aside, the four-digit number seems intimidating, but doing 25 every 6 minutes isn't that hard. My one set max at full strength is only about 50.

Good job. I've never though of trying that. Herschel Walker dies 1,000 push ups every day and look at him. That got me to start doing push ups as workouts instead of going to the gym. I do 10 sets of 35 with 1 minute 15 second rests. I might try this 1,000 push up thing in a couple weeks.

For the record, doing lots and lots of pushups will not make you, or anyone else, look like Herschel Walker. Pushups train muscle endurance, and not strength (unless you are a weakling to begin with). I train for strength and muscle endurance - I do lots of bodyweight exercises a couple of says a week, but I also lift with heavy weights (5x5, etc).

They are both a little tender whenever I 'push' anything, but I don't think there has been any real damage. I am confident that they will feel normal tomorrow.

Check out bar-barians and hannibal for king on youtube. You really dont need to do weights to get big.
