LC4 experiences

Looking for a great lounger... In my chicago apartment I have one I bought in London which is a more classic chaise lounge. I think I like the LC4 more than modern designs I've seen, and have no qualms about its ubiquity. This will be for my place in LA.

Was wondering about the cow hide effect on clothing. Does it come off? Is it as comfortable as the simple black?

Either they are comfy for you or they are not. That sounds silly, but they really fit a small percentage of the people. For me, they are great. We used to have one in our bedroom. My wife is the wrong size, so she couldn't use it at all. No problems with clothing or anything like that.

I've never liked or felt comfortable in the form of any Chaise lounges. Eames, Nelson, Mies, bleh. I'd just get a lounge chair.

What designs could you recommend? I've owned Barcelona chairs... they're in storage and I'll use them in an office... I doubt I'll sit in them much. I don't find Eames or most of that shit comfortable. They look nice but I suppose I'm a philistine accustomed to more plush furniture more commonly found in traditional homes in London and NYC where I lived. I can find a lot of antiques to satisfy me but was thinking of buying something modern again.

I also might sell the Barcelona chairs because I really don't think I can use them.

uhh, if you sell them in LA let me know.

In my experience the authentic Eames lounge chairs are very comfortable, but modernist stuff in lofts is so obvious that I'm almost inclined to recommend you go with the traditional stuff you like. might be a nice unexpected touch if its just a piece here and there.

we have an LC3 méridienne and I love it. We opted for the down filled version for a little more plush (our couch is firm, this is a nice contrast). I actually find it to be more versatile than an Eames as far as lounging goes, you can sit up one way, or rotate a little with your head back and legs stretched out (which is what I usually do).

btw, Matt's house tour is like a visit to the modern section of a design museum. He even has a Castiglioni I think. I'm sure he has a much more wide ranging experience with chairs and the implementation of chairs than I do so might have more interesting ideas on the subject.

Most comfortable chair in my house is a Tom Dixon Bird Chair. It is a little more that just a little contemporary, though.

You're right. I do like more traditional furnishings, but this is more for the office itself and sort of for fun.

What I really love is italian/french art deco, beaux arts (though I wouldn't buy it myself, I grew up in a beaux arts building so I have a fondness for it)

The LC4 interests me because I need something lightweight and not hideously expensive. The pieces I've bought abroad (or from dealers in NYC) came at such an incredible cost that the LC4 would be something fun to have, and I tend to like animal materials (also love exotic/beautiful wood). Sorry matt, I'm a design troglodyte. Will have to try one out... they're everywhere so it shouldn't be a problem.

I suppose that's true. It isn't the same wing of the design museum that some of my furniture is from [/humblebrag].

Sfield, I think you need a trade professional to go with/for you but there is some great stuff at LA Mart. Our couch is from there and was a good deal. Close to your new digs too.

I'd probably end up paying the same after their consult fee and % of purchase... I know a ton of them in NY (half of my mom's gay male friends are interior designers for people with little taste and far too much money) but no one off hand in LA
