I'm attending a job interview for an entry level position in the near future and need help chosing what colour and style of tie to go with it.

Below is my current outfit:

Dark red or dark blue.

Good luck! Btw, I'm guessing you're in the southern hemisphere or very far North, since in most other places it'd be too hot for a sweater.

Dark blue or mid blue a tone darker than the shirt.

If you're in a place cool enough to merit a sweater, you should probably wear a suit, if not a jacket at the very least.

What kind of industry/job your interviewing may help, but you should probably wear a suit.

Otherwise some navy or burgandy tie with a subtle pattern or simple stripe.

Thank you for the comments guys.

It's an entry level position for a giant cell phone company over here.

I understand you may all think it's vital to wear a suit, however here in Australia it is very uncommon unless going for a position which requires managerial roles or a suit happens to be part of the uniform requirements for said job.

That said, i'll reconsider my options and will look into purchasing a good suit.

No I think you are right. Though it looks good to wear a suit for nearly any interview. Its not crucial in your case.

If he turns up looking like the manager it doesn't mean they'll immediately think he's manager material. 'Dressing for the job you want' is an 80s cliche that is more wishful thinking that reality. He needs to dress well, but sensibly according to the position and his colleagues. A good odd-jacket could complete the outfit if needed.
