Anyone else pretty much stopped coming to SF after the change over? - Page 6

What I greatly enjoy is the option to display 100 replies per page, along with other customizations. I'm sure this isn't the final version of SF. Always room for improvement.

Maybe there should be more groups. From the cheapest to the finest all lumped into one list of threads is like looking for a few pins in a hay stack. A list for bespoke and a list for mtm and a list for otr would better. To make it sorta like divide and conquer. Street wear is already in its own list.

I have started to frequent LL (The London Longue). I've learnt heaps from SF, and I am ever thankful, but I think it is time to move on. I feel like the next level of clothing knowledge is to be found over there (LL). What pushed me to make the change (ie going there more often, here more less) was indeed the less user-friendly (at least for me, extremely subjective) new forum. Also, I have been way more inactive selling items since the new changes were implemented: I think I'm moving to eBay.

The B&S is the biggest issue for me. I haven't bought or sold anything in a week or so. Prior to the change, I felt a few casual visits a day gives me a pretty good sense of what are offered. Now I don't get that feeling and the outcome is I don't spend much time going through the listings. And I haven't bothered much with selling either, listing one item a thread sounds tedious and will be a PITA to manage on ongoing basis. I am waiting for the change to come in a few days but even with the change I doubt I will be as active buying as before.

I'm sure it's partially due to me being accustomed to how it used to work and I need to acclimate, but it seems even though I'm trying really hard I still just don't get it. I'm visiting less and less and, sadly, I might just drop off of it entirely with the hope that if/when I come back in a couple of months it'll be smoother, or not.

I made 1K posts before the switchover with, I think, some decent content in there. I also think I learned a ton along the way - maybe that's just the end of the road for me here.

^ +1.... I have been out of town and just happened upon the new format today. Agree w/ previous posts 100%.

B&S concerns me enormously, esp with my Flusser lot.

Sales dropped sharply once the software changed. I have posted little in the new Classifieds format because I was waiting for what has now been announced: megathreads, which will soon be available in the new system -- This according to LA Guy and Spoo.

Then we'll see how it really works.

I agree with you Mack, it has been slow - for a number of reasons. But 1.0 clearly did not work, so we completely took everyones advice and applied it for 1.2. I think from what I have seen it will be a really big step up. I also cant wait for your Flusser stuffs. Those fabrics were insane. I wish I did MTM so I could have kopped. Great stuff you had there. Was that a one time only thing, or will you be doing more like that?

Is it still going to have tons of wasted space and scrolling, or are we going to return to the more efficient threadlisting style of the old SF? Brianpore did a great mockup of the ideal threadlisting format in one of New Forum Support threads:

It gives the buyers the best opportunity to browse though a lot of posts quickly (like the old forum which most people liked) and if they see one they want to get some more info on, all they do is put the mouse on it. If they like it then they click it. There is way too much scrolling in the forums right now.

Its going to look the same, just the abilities and functionalities are going to improve drastically. By wasted space, it depends how you look at it. By the text preview, I was not a fan either, but you can utilize that to make some good PR for your listings. The old B&S was a forum based platform that was not designed for commerce by any means. This is a commerce driven subfora designed specifically for that, so it will not look the same.

Eh, I think it looks and feels like shit due to the vertical spacing and scrolling. Ultimately its success won't be determined by subjective impressions but by whether more people browse the forum and buy items. My bet is that the interface will put a lot of people off from casually browsing the forum but we'll see.

This was true, but I hereby change my mind.

There were two first class discussions I ran across: the one around Matt and Holdfast in WAYRN, and the near monologue by Rach in fragrances of the day.

Then there was Dopey in the Anglomania thread, and the bumping of the Bespoke Lessons thread... and Emptym taking it to them in WAYRN.

(Gotta love Diavlo's secret identity being revealed!)

I'm actually mightily encouraged. This was good stuff over the last couple of days.
