This conjured a really funny image in my mind. I wish I had the photochop skills to properly convey this visually.

laugh.gif In B&S 2.1, this will be shrunken to one or two threads at most, thanks to the reintroduction of the multi unit megathread. Makes skipping over some BB shirts much, much easier if thats not your thing.

If there was a silver lining in the financial crisis it was all the surplus luxury goods, heh.

I still don't really come to SF anymore, but I was on a different forum that was very slow with ads.
Installing AdBlock makes a huge difference in ad littered forums like SF. It might make your browsing a little less painful.

Browsing speeds has been better recently though still perceptibly slower than before. The lack of spam is great; I spent a great deal of time before sending spam reports. I'm not sure what's up with B&S these days, sales even at (what I think are) low prices are slow and that impacts on my buying. I've been buying more stuff off ebay which is never nice.

It is still far too slow and quite frequently uploading a 'reply' fails. The overbearing advertisements/commerciality also serves to destroy the inherent informality of a chat board.

I'm one of the new guys ruining the site with lousy content. New enough that I didn't even know there was a redesign before I read this thread. But that is a fast rule of every web forum ever, that no matter when you join the guys who were around a couple of years before you were better, and your generation sucks.

But with Safari on OSX the site is fairly clunky and lags a bit, compared with the other forums I use. With Safari on an iPhone it is unusable. Especially PMs, partly because the script running the popup window continually positions it, which prevents pinch-zooming to see enough detail to type. It can be middled through if you have lots of patience and flip java script on and off as necessary.

The trend is to go whizzy. Craigslist, an almost perfect content focused design, is laughed at and overlapping mouseover popups and three level nested fade in menu bars are somehow 'smart'.

I don't browse as much when I have only my iPad available to use. It's still too slow on the iPad, even with the ad blocker.

x2

My phone is even worse than my iPad, almost unmanageable.
