is there a reason why you can only sell one item in each classified post?

I'm sure that j/Fok & co. had a reason. However, it seems like it defeats the purpose of bumping which is the only way to have visibility if other search  features are not enabled. The front page is bound to have 20 items from the same seller being bumped simultaneously as I just saw earlier...

I just kind of want to know their reason. it's completely tedious to have to redo EVERYTHING. I mean, even stylezeitgeist doesn't have a shitty classified system....

I have a guess of why they did it but will keep it to myself... all I know is that so far I've found myself browsing it much less frequently. I sorely miss the mega threads of the past.

found this site a month or so ago.. the mega-threads were always the useful ones. What a wonderful site it was, you find someone in your size and you make out like a bandit clothing and price-wise... and the seller sells a large amount. I know they meant to make it easier to search and what not, but i have yet to find anything that fits/worth looking at.

My original proposed plan for the B&S system involved sort of a dual listing system:

the main way of viewing would be basically like the old forum-style view, where sellers could post a thread containing a group of items, discussion could ensue, and browsing would be easy - essentially, these threads would contain all the individual item listings which would be entered separately, if the seller wanted to do the work of listing them each individually.

The other way of viewing would be to drill down into the categorized separate listings if you wanted to search for a certain thing, or subscribe to a certain brand, size, item type, etc. similar to ebay saved searches and categorization.

Unfortunately this is a HUGE project, way more than we could get done before launch. So what we have currently is sort of a hybrid, which we think with some tweaks, we may be able to get to work as well as the system I described, for our purposes. People obviously seem to value browsing more than searching for specific items (at least currently while searching is still somewhat awkward) and we will be adjusting things to try to accommodate both styles of B&S usage.

the issue with the system now is that yeah, i'm never really looking for things in particular, and when it comes up via browsing, I can purchase it. I don't quite get why the rules of posting multiple items in the same for sale post is a no no. If I wanted to individualize the items, and spend that much time doing so, in honesty, I would just go to ebay where it's probably quadruple the traffic that any one thread sees in a day. So what I'm asking is just to do away with the rules pertaining to selling multiple items in one thread...

We are considering doing that, just need to figure out if any other tweaks need to be made to the premium groups or any rules (e.g. only one open listing per category, etc.) to keep it fair.

Thanx!

The multiple listings with only one item sorta knocks the small time (one random item) seller off the front page really quickly.

Looking forward to an even more improved B&S - just curious how long do you think it will take for it to be updated?

Here is one problem which I have not seen a response to. About 30% of my "first contact" PM's are like this one from this morning: Subject line: "shirts". Message: "Do you have any more shirts same size? Would be interested in multiples if avail."

What's missing? Size. And I have 40+ sizes of shirts. The problem is that buyers are accustomed to using ebay where if they PM from an item listing then the item is part of the subject line. When the same problem happens this frequently it is not the fault of the buyer, but rather the design of the system. After 9+ hours I have not heard back from this guy. Most of you understand sales well enough to know that buyers lose interest quickly if they run into any snags or delays. Here is a self identified multiple item buyer and he is gone with the wind.

My sales are off by about 60% with this new system. ffffuuuu.gif

ex: I once purchased a ss ocbd tux shirt from Steve Smith. in no way was I searching for a short sleeved button down collar tuxedo shirt but I came across it while browsing and just felt like buying it.

SS, I hope b&s gets sorted out soon. I would hate to lose a great seller

This is slightly OT but can anyone tell me why the sorting in the classifieds don't work? For example, go to Streetwear and Denim, check only for sale and active, then denim in the dropdown. You expect to just get jeans right? But you get everything, as if there's no filter at all.

I think the dual listing system is a great idea. If it is too big a project, just keep the old sub-board and make it exactly the same as it had been. Right now, even though it is there, editing is quite different and difficult IMO.
