Not sure how easy or comfortable it is to sleep with headphones. You need a white noise machine for the bedroom.

That's what I was going to say. He must sleep like a corpse.

I am not sure a white noise machine is going to be enough. He might need some sound deadening material to cover the windows. It might not look pretty but will help. Key is to get the sound blocking as air tight as possible. No movement of air, no sound.

First time on this part of SF so I am hoping I am posting in the right spot.

I need a pair of noise cancelling headphones. I need them to block out nearby construction noise when sleeping. I will also use them when flying, but I really need to be able to block out construction noise (hammering, noise from cement truck mixers, etc.).

I am considering two Bose models:
Bose Quiet Comfort 25 (over the ear): https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...5053_0010_quietcomfort_25_acoustic_noise.html

and
Bose Quiet Comfort 20 (in ear): https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1168269-REG/bose_718839_0010_quietcomfort_20_for_ios.html

But I am open to other suggestions and certainly effective, lower priced options.

Can anyone offer a recommendation? Wondering if in ear would be easier to sleep with? Will either be effective in blocking out construction noise, etc. Thanks in advance.

See my prior post about Bedphones - http://www.styleforum.net/t/257061/what-headphones-do-you-use/135#post_8236280. I've liked mine for the most part. The sound is decent considering they go against your ears and not in or around them. One thing I've noticed is they developed a buzzing noise here and there. I listen to videos on Youtube with mostly talking and I can even here a slight intermittent buzz regardless of the timbre of the speaker's voice. They came with replacement foam covers that I can't find now. The ones on there now keep slipping off. I'm hoping that is the source of the buzz and will be fixed once they're replaced.

Just wondering if y'all use proper nice headphones or crappy tinny buds.
I’ve owned a variety of headphones but I’m sticking with Bower & Wilkins' P3 for a while as I find they have quality sound, comfort and design.

Currently really, really loving my 3 pairs of ATE KZ in-ears, straight from China for $5/pair with free shipping. A wonderful value if you ask me, and the hordes of fanboys across the interwebs. At home, I don't really use phones but am looking at Grados.

1more Triple Driver IEM. https://usa.1more.com/ https://www.amazon.com/1MORE-Headphones-Earphones-Compatible-Microphone/dp/B01A7G35S0
They need to be burned in but great sound for the price and I won't lose my mind if I lose them or wash them by accident.

For noise reduction I had a pair of custom earplugs made by an audiologist. Super comfortable for when I rode a Ducati 848evo as a daily driver. I still use them for when I shoot in an indoor range and double up with the plugs then electronic over the ear (MSA Sordins Supreme Pro-X).

Depending on how loud the construction is, white noise may be the answer. There are plenty of free apps so it's an easy try.

Just curious, do you work overnight and sleep during the day? What time do they start construction? There is usually a sound ordinance as when they can start/stop.

Are there any half decent in ear Bluetooth options available?

The Jaybird X3 seem to be the currently darling of the reviewers but I just bought a pair and they sound like garbage.

B&O look pretty but only have <3 hours of battery and use a ridiculous non-USB Charing doc.

Klipsch, who I adore for wired, are huge and bulky.

Thanks in advance.

I wanted some wireless headphone to workout so about a year ago, I did a lot of research and ended up getting the Jaybird X2 as they seemed to be the best option on the market. I knew there was a bit of a tradeoff vs. wired headphone, but i's much worse than I thought. They are uncomfortable, sound like **** and don't seal very well, forcing you to put up the volume way high(I have mild tinnitus so I am very careful about volume level). More or less a year after I got them, they stopped charging... I concluded that despite Apple thinking we are already there, we are years away from having great sounding in-hear wireless headphone so I am back to wired for the foreseeable future.

Just came in today. So far the clarity is there but the lows are lacking and they need to burn in. After a week I'll listen to them against some B&W P7"s. The build quality is there and they are light weight which is what I'm looking for in commuting headphones in this price range. My IEM's irritate the insides of my ears after an hour so I'll try this route. Still thinking of some custom IEM's.
