BB v. Baroni, M. Valentino, etc.?

I am heading into interview season with law firms and I need to get a nice interview suit. I've been searching and reading many threads on this site and am coming to the conclusion that Macy's, Jos. A. Bank, etc., are not the best way to go.

I can't spend thousands on a suit right at the moment, so I am debating between a nice Brooks Brothers suit on sale, $700 or so, versus a few eBay brands I have never heard of until reading this site: Baroni, M. Valentino, or Danielle from Style-Wizard (guess he used to be Wizard of Ahhs?), all of which are about $300.

Obviously, $300 is better than $700 on the wallet, but I've only owned crap suits until now so I would prefer to get something that is going to be respectable quality.

I appreciate any comments or suggestions.  FWIW, looking at a navy suit, perhaps with a subtle stripe, to go along with oxblood Bostonian shoes (didn't know about AE lol) and white shirt. Thanks!

If you are referring to on-campus interviewing than any of the above would be fine because 99% of your classmates will be dressed like pure crap. I have BB 1818 and a suit from Wizard, both are sufficient for your needs.

It's not OCI; I'm currently doing a clerkship. I assume any interviews, at least at the larger firms, would be conducted along with their OCI callbacks, but not sure.

Get the Brooks Brothers suit in a solid navy or grey and you won't regret it.

I would perhaps lean towards the BB then now that you are done with LS. However, the Brooks Brother 1818 isn't vastly superior to the M. Valentino (in my humble and non-expert opinion). I do have a BB Golden Fleece as well - if you are somehow getting this for $700 then go for the BBGF..

If you get either of these suits in a conservative color you will be fine. The big firms will really just be judging you on (a) the judge/jurisdiction you clerked for, and (b) are your social skills better than those of a U Chicago student.

If you can toss a bit more in, BB suiting essentials are 2 for $800...

Are the BB suiting essentials always 2 for $800 or is it a sale right now?

It took me a while but I found a Brooks Brothers Fitzgerald in the classifieds at $250, which is even better yet. Only negative is it's black, but I'll make it work.
