Question about measurements for buying off of B/S forums.

Quick question.

I wanted to measure myself so that I could buy more stuff off the B/S forum.

What are the basic measurements I should take for a dress shirt, dress pant and shoes?

Any recommendations on a good measuring tape?

Thanks,

Shaun

Take the garment that fits you best and lay it flat on the floor. Measure the distance from the armpits across (should be something like 21" or so depending on your size), the sleeve length from the shoulder seam to the cuff (like 25"), the distance between the shoulder seams (like 19"). For a shirt, those are probably the most important measurements, assuming you know your neck size.

Pants is across waist, inseam, across hips, cuff opening, and rise is also somewhat important.

Shoes, its very hard to go by strictly measurements, but an outsole width and length, as well as an insole length are what you need.

Jot all these down on a paper, or save it on your computer/mobile somewhere for easy access until you memorize them.

good info above. when you measure your waist make sure to level out the pants so that the buttoning area doesn't dip down, it'll make a slight difference.

Don't need anything special, but I'd go with one that's actually tape-like not a metal one used for construction (you can find flexible ones at any craft store).
