I just read the article "Martini Straight Up" in the latest (Holiday) Menswear. Its about Luigi Martini (Kiton's General Manager). A few things I found interesting were:

1) He never gets his suits dry cleaned. For stains, he uses baby powder. He has close to 75 suits and 45 sport jackets - all Kiton.

2) Although, his pants are cuffed, the length is short. The cuff's botton barely touches his shoes. His reasoning for the short pant length is "It shows the elegance of the shoes. When you wear an expensive shoe, you want to show it".

Baby powder? How does he use it exactly?

You just sort of sprinkle it on, it absorbs the oils in the smudge/whatever, and then you brush it off, I believe.

I can't imagine what you'd do with 75 suits and 45 jackets, much less why you'd want them all to be Kiton.

he used to work at battistoni. nice guy, very elegant. he's a little 'out there' for my taste - puma sneaks with a suit - but he pulls it off.

I believe he worked for Borrelli before Kiton. He is 'out there' but I liked his look when I met him. I wouldn't want to try it outside the Kiton boutiqe or an art gallery but it works for him.

Sort of a Karl Lagerfeld coiffure.

For interesting dressers, I prefer Stephen di Renza and Yann Debelle de Montby.

Massimo as well barely uses a dry cleaner. Even then he takes his suits to Italy where he says he has found someone who "barely touches the suit".

Try your local Barnes & Noble. I just got a copy today at the Santa Monica store.

I am not too impressed with the way Mr. Martini dressed in that picture. His cuff is way too long, over 2 inches ( 1 and 5/8 should be sufficient). The suit pant he was wearing is way too slim, he looks a little out of porportion. I certainly beg to differ with his opinion that men should only wear flat front pant.
