The reason is that we do not want to disadvantage the people who are using the system now, and paying for the premium options, but at the same time, we do not want people being tempted to game the system. The crucial point is that listings do not expire until you close them. This would mean that someone could buy on the of the 200 listing options now, and if the rules applied retroactively, they would either be able to have 200 listings indefinitely. Logistically, the only thing that makes this unambigious is to have the new rules and the new premium seller groups be implemented simultaneously, and the new rules would apply to all listings created after the new rules are implemented.

Sorry for the inconvenience, gentlemen, but the system should be up and running by the end of the week. I will announce when the changes take place.

Cheers,

Fok.

Understandable.

Let's say I decide to list a sportcoat today, under the current system.
It doesn't sell, and next week after the new system is put up, can I put it into a thread with a couple other sportcoats I'm selling? (with paying the bump price and everything).

That's kinda my predicament now, I have about a dozen odd items I'd like to list, but don't want to be barred from having them in the new B&S if they don't sell in the next week.

I know this isn't your problem, but my biggest peeve with selling is how to deal with all the PMs.
I'll list something, get a quick "I'll take it, paypall?" message, and then turn away all the other buyers, only to have the first guy never send payment, or wait a week to contact me again.

I wish I had problems like this. Dont complain about too many people wanting to buy your stuff.

However, you can end this "problem" by :

1. replying to PMs instantaneously
2. Put a simple "first to pay gets it, no holds" disclaimer in your thread.

Basta.

I considered doing this, but I am not confident that I could structure it in such a way that it will properly fit into the new SF format. My archived megathreads are painful to look at now because the width of the page has been changed.

Its easy - click to start a new thread, enter all the info as you would, then copy all, and paste in an offline document. You need to use outside hosting for the pics though. Easy peasy.

when will the changes come? it cannot come soon enough. browsing the new B&S is painful with all the bugs and the lack of reliable search function.

In that case I tell the second guy that someone has committed but not yet paid and that I will get back to him within a day. Then I usually mark the item sold. Rarely does the first guy disappear, but it happens. If I haven't heard from him in 24 hours, tough shit for him. If he PM's and says he couldn't put the money together or some other sad story then I don't get too excited about it. Shit happens.

For those guys who disappear, as well as other categories of PITA people, I have a short "probationary list" and a shorter "No Soup For You" list. I would say that about 99 out of 100 SF deals are pretty smooth. As an interesting aside, the percentage of jerkoff buyers on SF is actually much lower than on another site. I expected the opposite because I perceive SF members as being younger. Maybe there is hope for the future after all.

That would be fine. You should, of course, close those threads before consolidating items into a new listing.

+1

I have not bought or sold anything here since the changeover and I don't know when I will because I still find the new B&S intolerable, but I've had dozens of transactions on SF both as a buyer and as a seller and every single one of them has gone flawlessly.

Like you, I dont even waste my time going into the new B&S anymore. I have a few things listed for sale (figured there was no downside), but am waiting for the forum to be updated and see if it's worth my time. I personally feel that if I want an eBay experience I go to ebay who has a MUCH large network of people to potentially buy my items even if there are fees.

I miss price drops being the main way to bump a thread. True, replies bumped it as well, but I keep seeing items I like bumped at too high a price. I wish I could filter results so that items only showed up bumped if it came with a price drop.
