In the system envisioned, you could do either. You get 15 listings, to do with as you wish. The idea is to allow sellers more choice in how they use their listings, so both your preferences can be accommodated.

There is probably an uptick in usage because we are getting more visits, more visitors, and more new visitors, nearly all of whom are more comfortable with Ebay style classifieds than with "megathreads". The new system will allow you to tailor your listings as you see fit. You can list items individually or as a group, so long as the items grouped together fall under the same category. The limit of 15 listings per seller will prevent an single seller from dominating the entire page of listings.

Why does does hitting the back button after viewing something on say, page 3, return me to page 1? That makes me stop looking at BS rather quickly.

Fok, is there anyway to "freeze" the 7 or 8 open threads about the new forum and B&S (suggestions, complaints, questions, etc) and direct everyone to one thread. I'm sure it would be MUCH easier for you to answer and everyone else who is asking the same questions in different locations.

I could. But people would start new threads. Or accuse me of fascism. Or something. So, if you guys could help spread the word about this thread, that would be terrific.

Thanks Fok. To continue to add my $0.02 to this particular issue, if you're planning on replacing the whole 'check box' system, great. I think it's a good idea. If you're thinking about keeping the check boxes but making it so that we can more efficiently uncheck everything except WTB, then

1) I strongly urge you to reconsider. Having to go through 4 or 5 actions (mouseclicks) to reach WTB just makes no sense to me at all, when the section should be reachable in a maximum of two clicks and preferably one hover/click from anywhere on the site.

2) If there is no will or way to change this, then please consider taking the 'Free' check box out of there. I have averaged probably 30 minutes a day every day at B & S over the past few years and I can remember only a very few true 'Free' threads where guys were just giving stuff away. Give-aways are mostly tied to purchases. Do we really need a separate box for this?

No response is necessary, just wanted you to know that I feel strongly about the whole WTB accessibility issue. I realize that I'm in a small minority.

Not sure where to post this so I am doing it here. Its essentially a question about the rules for the new B&S.

 

In the past cross posting in the B&S was not allowed, but now that were are delegated a certain amount of threads based upon membership are we free to use them as we see fit? If I am allowed 7 threads as a base member can cross post an item that may sell in either MC or SW&D and count that as 2 of my 7 classifieds, or is cross posting still not allowed?

That whole mess will be fixed. Apparently, it will take a couple of weeks, but it will be fixed.

You can use your listings as you see fit, though you can view listings from both MC and SW&D at the same time (this is the default for the main listings page), so it may seem sort of silly.

I've had a mixed bag of results in the new system. I think it will sort itself out.

As a bug report: using firefox on lion, when I go to page 2 from page 1, I always have to start at the bottom of the page and scroll up instead of the reverse. Am I alone? Thanks.

Oh, helloes again...

So has anyone found a way to leave feedback for trades? These constitute the majority of my B&S-ish transactions, yet the new system requires a sales thread link to offer feedback. (I realize there's now a 'for trade' option, which is great, but a lot of trading is impromptu, and it would seem dishonest to create a thread after the fact)...

Sorry if this is a known bug, but I am using Safari and when I first go to the B&S, using a bookmark, I cannot advance from page one to anything but the end of the thread. The "2" , "3" "next" buttons do not work. If I go to the end and come back to page 1, then the buttons work.

Finally got around to trying out AdBlock+ for firefox. OMG what a difference!! It looks like a halfway normal forum again Everyone should be using it. Now if there was only a way to see more then 5 listings per page when my browser was fulled expanded like a regular forum ;) (I know your working on it), we would be all set. Having the option to hide the picture column would be awesome!!
