New changes to B&S forum

Is it just me or have prices on the B & S gone up under the new format?

Well the sellers choose the prices…

Although, I must confess to not knowing the price of all my ties before since my archived post is screwed up.

Funny you should say that. I was just perusing and noticed that there weren't that many great deals to be had. SF gets that Google money and forgets its roots.

I think so. Several shirts I have been eyeing have gone up 20% since the move (same brand, different seller though)

I like the layout, it seems to be slow though. Not as many sellers listing items frown.gif

I have noticed that prices have been increasing lately especially for ties. Right now, with all the major stores having sales (Neimans, Saks, Barneys, etc) I can buy better quality neckwear cheaper in the store (Kiton, Drakes, etc) than I can on B&S.

I would think prices should be lower on the new classifieds since you don't have to factor in the obligatory price drops.

I wonder if no one is adjusting for this.

Some stuff has gone up and some has gone down. I still think there are deals to be had, most things I've looked at are usually 50% off (I know not the 80% off retail SFers expect). I think it becomes tricky when you look at NWT stuff. Seller may buy it for X dollars, but once you factor in shipping, may only make $10 for their time and effort to get the items to a market that may not have access to the product. When I buy, I do attempt to negotiate, all the seller can say is "no, thanks you."

I agree that prices seem higher and with Korshak, Barneys, Louis et al all offering 60%+ reductions on spring merchandise, B&S is that much more of a snooze.

I haven't even checked the new B&S. I liked the entertainment of looking at multiple items from the same seller in one thread with all the discussions and price drops. It's just not the same now.

I miss the old B&S.

The rest of the new site is great though.

Just hope that after the growing pains and "adaptation" period that we can grow to like the new B&S system.

It was just much better before...

The new B&S makes me sad.

I copy/pasted my stuff, same price. I don't know if prices have generally gone up because I haven't looked through the B&S.

I said the same thing in the SF/Huddler upgrade thread when I previewed the new B&S system. The new system is too much like eBay for me. It is better if you're a focused buyer looking for specific things but it's no longer a buying and selling forum.
I guessed that there are more buyers like me that enjoy browsing than not. There are typically ~ 200 people viewing B&S now (with majority viewing the archive) compared to ~350 before the change. I think some of that has to do with the format.

I've noticed that also, there are hardly any people browsing.

Instead of the price drop ability, there is the "or best offer", take advantage of it, the worst people could say is no thanks.

I wrote somewhere else that I won't be increasing prices even though I will have to pay for listing eventually... also I'm very flexible with offers.

This forum is the best place to sell, it better not fail us!!!!

Don't forget the 'OBO' box available for sellers to click. It seems to have replaced the price drops.

This. It's a real pain to list things individually...and my new threads have, well, about twenty views, as opposed to three or four thousand. frown.gif
