Suede Double Monks Suggestions

Thread Starter
Hello gents. After some sifting through older threads I have come up empty (amazingly). So I am starting this thread in the hopes I can get some advice/suggestions.

I am looking for a pair of suede (darker brown, preferably) double monks for the fall in the price range of $250-$450ish (not a big tymer yet). I have heard some good things about ROTM's offerings and it is rumored they will be offering a suede dub monk this fall, but the pre-ordering process is such a pain for sizing, returns, etc I was hoping someone had other suggestions.

So I leave it to y'all: What are some good double monks that won't break the bank? Thanks in advance.

Cant believe that sifting didnt come up with the same old same old Crockett & Jones Lowndes in Espresso Suede from all the usual places. Nice double monks if you can get away with the 348 last.

Or this Burford from Shipton & Heneage slightly less expensive.

Yes, it's the Lyndon. No idea who makes it. Hopefully it's someone good, it's priced only 10% lower than lowndes

Isnt it stated somewhere that AE are to bring these back???

Just had a quick peek again at the Bodileys Lyndon for interest and they are a nice double monk not as aggresive IMO as the 348 Lowndes.

Last looks elegant, thinking of getting the aldgate

I think they are made by Cheaney since the last 11028 is also being used by Cheaney Lime

Just a quick bit of snooping at it seems the Last 11028 is a Cheaney Last. I would imagine that the Bodileys shoes are made by Cheaney to Bodileys specification.

Sorry you just beat me LOL

Consensus from older threads seems to be that they are Cheaney's. (http://www.styleforum.net/forum/thread/233217/bodileys-has-its-own-line-of-shoes) However, they are more expensive than Cheaney's branded double monks. Anyone know what the price increase is attributed to? Better materials? Higher standards by Bodileys?

They maybe made to a better quality specification, it maybe worth checking. Where have you seen Cheaney Double Monks cheaper than Bodileys other than the Imperial Line which is more expensive ?

someone needs to contact Sarah Dudley and get some info. Kev777 is the ideal person to do it

May just do that as im in the market for some Brown Calf Double Monks. Was thinking Alfred Sargent Ramsey or Sid Mashburn's monks , the Cheaney Imperials although nice looking i think theyre too elongated for me.
