I'm looking for a new pair of grosgrain formal braces that sort of like these, but in all white. I'm looking for woven ends and silver hardware would be prefered.

The only one's I've found so far are the cheapy kind from bridal store/rent-a-tux places.

Also, what do you think about having the adjusters removed and just stitching them up to my size? I like the idea of having the braces custom fit to me, but I wonder if they might not look a bit weird without the visual break that comes from the adjusters.

Thurston used to make perfect white formal braces. I don't see them on their website; only black. Have you tried Budd?

You can take braces to a shoe repair shop, and have them cut down and the levers removed. I don't recommend this, as you better be sure you get the length exactly right. Even then, different trousers wear differently. Plus, even a slight variation in your waistline can affect how the same pair of trousers wears. You are better off keeping the adjusters.

Manton,

Thanks. Thurston may not have them on their web page, but I can pick them up at Bromleys.

Interestingly, I decided I wanted this type of braces while watching Casino Royale. As it turns out, Thurston provided the braces for the movie.

Yeah, they were great. Incredible fit on the formal shirt as well. Of course, it helps to have Daniel Craig's chest.

Yeah, that chest thing is going to take me a bit longer.

I did pick up a peak-lapel tux. Not Brioni, but a decent Zegna that fits really well.
