With growing rumor and gossip about the NFL moving a football team to L.A, many have speculated if it could work. The L.A., Rams, and Raiders have failed in the city of Angels, but could the right owner pull it off?

“Can football work in L.A.?”

It’s the million-dollar question. It’s been a constant conundrum that’s engulfed Los Angeles sports since the Rams and Raiders bolted for greener pastures in 1995. But the issue has picked up even more steam over the past year and now it appears inevitable that the NFL will return to City of Angels thanks to AEG’s downtown L.A. stadium proposal.

They tried it with two other teams and it failed, why would this time be any different?

Because it's now 16 years later and they would be building a brand new stadium in the already thriving L.A Live...

This. If Farmers Field gets built where it should be, then the new NFL team will basically be the Lakers on Sundays (i.e., the place to be seen in LA).

If that thing out in City of Industry gets built, then no....will fail.

Agreed. People didn't go to the Coliseum because nothing was really going on downtown (not to mention the area was a bit grimier back then). There were no cool bars, restaurants, theatres, aka nothing to do right before/after the games. Now, people throw all kinds of money into L.A Live when they go to to a Lakers/Kings game or concert at the Nokia Center.

L.A Live has proved to be a HUGE success. Put Farmers Field behind the Staples Center and Downtown LA will explode with even more business. If I were a real estate developer, I would even go so far as to buy more of the surrounding underdeveloped homes/run down buildings around L.A Live and spawn the west coast's version of Times Square after Farmers Field proves successful.

Well, the council members are supposed to approve or disapprove of the plan by August 20. So I guess we'll know for sure in a month whether or not a team is on its way to LA.

I heard rumors of the Chargers possibly moving. I remember I moved from L.A. when the raiders left, maybe when I move back a team will reappear...

Haha, move back quickly! Teams who have mutual interest are the Chargers, Jaguars and the Rams.  My money is on the Jaguars. I'd hate it if we got the Chargers.

Just another team for the Packers to pound...

If the Jaguars, will the NFL realign the divisions to make it more geographically correct? If the LA Jaguars were to stay in the AFC South, they'd be at a competitive disadvantage on most of their divisional road games.

I'm thinking the Kansas City Chiefs would swap divisions with the Jaguars.

Magic Johnson sold his entire stake in the Lakers to invest in this new LA football team.

I think it will work, all of the circumstances seem to be just right and set for success.
