Yes, "things" that are tangible like a car or a house or "things" that are intangible, like an experience. In this instance, OP may be selling off something that hits both marks.

It sounds like a variation on the 'he who has the most toys at the end wins' philosophy. I'm not convinced it has a point- unless it is life itself.

Have you found a counter-point to his point what you've found works for you? If even "things" such as intangible experiences carry the accumulation mindset and aren't worth having where do you go from here?

And yes, I realize this is a very materialistic forum from the get go.

Asking what the point of something is assumes that it has one as much as declaring that it has one and what it is. All I know is that it seems to be happening, and that I have inclinations- one of which is to keep it happening given it's current state. If I had to commit though, I think optimizing the state of my body and mind is more important to me than gathering any possession or experience. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with them, just that if I had to give something up, they wouldn't be the last to go.

The 'things' that most supports my wellbeing are my close relationships.
