Are we getting closer to or farther away from the exit door?

Way too early to say. I have about 3 days of clean data to work with, and most people are adapting to the new system. And the small little fixes are barely started. For now, please try to learn the system and enjoy yourself.

I guess your right.
However, I do think the quicker they get out of this, the better.
The Alexa stats show that things look to be getting worse.
Alexa doesn't even show the whole picture. The forum is often dead. There has been 9 posts in the last 10 minutes. 4 of those were in the complaint threads.
The core problems with the site(Speed, B&S, ads,...) can't be changed/fixed.

I for one am glad SF has a way out.

I wanted to like the new system a lot. It looked okay to me at first, but I had also gotten used to the layout from the sandbox. The site is still noticeably slower, though I chalk that up to the relative young age of the system.

One thing I have noticed that others have already brought up is posting from senior members has stagnated significantly, and I now often find myself opening up SF, clicking on the few threads I'm interested in, and navigating away. I used to have SF open all the time, but now it seems things move so slowly that it's difficult to actually "enjoy" the forum. A great example is RFT, that thread was really awesome back in the day, but now it has really slowed down.

I don't want to gripe or anything and I understand why the move was made, but I don't think this was a good move. I realize that I'm offering no real solution, but I'm not sure how the forum will turn out. Newer members will probably come and fill the space as older members move further away. However, I hope it turns out to just be like facebook where new things are implemented, people get angry, then get used to it anyways.

From what I have read signing up with Huddler is a lifetime deal. frown.gif

When have J or Fok ever talked about trying to do anything but surge forward with the new system?

Reread the OP, where in that does it say anything about "Hey guys, feel free to bitch to your heart's content."? All J did was post a response/explanation/revelation to forum members

10 posts up LA Guy confirmed that an exit plan does exist and could possible be used.

when i quote someone else's post i have to delete about 5 lines so i dont take up too much space. damn annoying

+1 - The white space is horrible. Tons of extra lines. Tons of stuff that you don't need now that the adds take up 30% of the page. Things like "last post" are useless IMO, just take up space and push everything down further to elongate that page.

On the note of the quoting, sure this has been mentioned, but if you delete one too many lines on the bottom your cursor gets stuck inside the quote box and I can't get it out.

Exit strategy? Please use it and abort now. As others have said Huddler sucks. A few forums I have been on switched over to Huddler and it's the same problems. Lag, white space, not user friendly. It's a true chore to browse this website for me now... I can't even scroll down the page without it lagging.

Reading this thread is a bit like the reactions to a change of wallpaper in a geriatric home.. Really, cant any of you just adapt to the new situation?

No.

I've been stopping by more often, if not only to see how the new site is doing then to gawk at everyone's bitching.

So, that's one old boy that has been resurrected.

I think, by this point, StyeForum doesn't need to fear Huddler. Huddler probably fears StyleForum.

Just because an emergency exit plan is in place does not mean that there is any intention to use it.

We fear change...

Seriously, let's give it a few months before we abandon ship. I'm just glad that there is a plan B should we need to pursue it.

New Forum looks good to me.

I just have to get used to the size, everything looks so huge.

I really dont get all that bitching about the new layout of SF. It's brilliant. There are still some flats which the have to work on but you can't admit that the old style of the forum was just to old for the current time we live.
