Excellent, thanks for taking care of this, Fok.

Eh, I actually quite like this.. My biggest gripe with the SF was VB would keep track of read posts up to about two weeks old, but any older and it's mark as 'old', even when I've never viewed the thread before. A request for that to be corrected so that any post, no matter how old, be marked as new so that the feature works like it should was met with an explanation that implementing it would require too large a database, understandable since there are so many users and so many threads.. but it pretty much made keeping track of all those 100+ pages threads impossible, I would have to leave tabs open permanently so I wouldn't lose my progress.

Randomly clicking on 'view new posts' on a thread brought me to the first post in the thread, from 2008, so I'm assuming the feature has finally been implemented, anyone can confirm this? Is it here to stay?

edit: It seems clicking that button brings me to the first unread post as intended, but then after viewing the first page (of a multi-page thread), I used the breadcrumbs to go back to the board index, and the 'view unread' button is now grayed out, meaning the forum software things I've viewed the whole thread when in fact I've only viewed the first page facepalm.gif

Can a "see more from seller" button be added when viewing a seller's classified item? The column on the right shows 5 items at a time, it would be nice to be able to expand this with some type of "expand" button.

We are actually going to see about the feasibility of doing an "Ebay store" option for powersellers. Also please remember that the B&S is going to change, probably by the end of next week (final tweaks, then QA, needs to be done.)

Cheers,

Fok.

At this point, what is the difference between SF's B&S and Ebay? I've been a casual buyer for a few years, and the new format is extremely disappointing.

Only been around for a couple of years and a couple thousand dollars from B&S, but let me say, again, how great the new site is. It is SO much easier to navigate specific topics and particularly items for sale. Much more information on a page, sale items are not constantly getting bumped out of order, moderators are not droning on about who broke the rules, and snarky remarks seem to be down (in B&S anyway) by a significant percentage. As far as similarities to EBAY...well, that setup and it's multimillion dollars worth of sales works for a reason....because it works.
I know there are a few kinks to work out with such a major change, but looking forward to many more informative and wallet draining experiences on the new site.

Snarky remarks are down for 2 reasons imo. A) No one wants to navigate though 100's of single items like 10 ties posted in a row and post a remark and B) There are just less people viewing and going though the items as its a really daunhting task right now. The snarky remarks are part of what made the forum a forum and not another ebay. If I want "ebay" I'll go to ebay. In regards to ebay, this is/was a forum which offered you a place to sell something, where ebay is an "auction house" and their system works for them, but I think it is a joke if you want to force a forum, where the idea is everyone here enjoys clothes/style/etc, and make it into an auction/classified system. Its just not going to work. If you think ebay "works" just go to ebay where you have a MUCH MUCH larger pool of people to look/buy your item. This is why you are going to see the change from a classified system, one item per listing, back to more of a forum style listing, and snarky remarks, comments and conversations, will be even more prevalent then before as the original poster can now participate without a 5% price drop and bumping the item.

The B&S is going to be altered. Read this thread:
http://www.styleforum.net/forum/thread/256511/new-changes-to-b-s-forum/390_30#post_4708841

Things will get better.

These changes should be taking place next Thursday or so. We are working very fast. I think that the fixes as well as the changes are going through QA right now.

Cheers,

Fok.

tl;dr - they commercialized it. It's no longer homey. Get over it :'(

All in all, this "new" SF is not as good (looking) as the older version was.

Sounds good, Fok. We're all looking forward to checking it out. One thing, though. I'm begging you - do not roll out the new B & S without dealing with the 'page back' issue, in all its iterations (there are several - see below for one that I haven't yet encountered). The B & S forums are unbrowsable in their present state because of this issue alone, never mind any of the others. It's a revelation that the problem, which is a real PITA for those trying to use the B & S, has taken 14+ days to solve. It must be a bitch of a programming change.

Also from there it seems you can't again click on page 4 directly. It won't load. You've got to go to page 3 or 5 and hit the forward/back button. It's pretty frustrating.
