"What have you done to my beloved forum?!" - Page 9

Things look to getting worse bounce rate is up 25%, page views down 36%, page view user down 30%,...

You guys are still getting lag? The only time I had noticeable lag was the day after we switched. Might be your system unable to handle all the random things being thrown at it?

Still getting lag. frown.gif
It might be a little faster than day 1 or 2, but the site is still way too slow.

Flashy things that pop up, scripts from five different sites, a huge sidebar taking up room for posts (although, gratefully, this is a vertical bar that uses the extensive horizontal space monitors now have) are all intrusive. To me, the hallmark of a good website is one that delivers what you need and then gets out of your way. Does this SF do that? Clearly, people think not [even outside the realm of performance issues].

Keep in mind, this was first and foremost a forum. If someone enters and things Start To Appear (TM) they're going to be thrown off.

Web 2.0 isn't bad. It's sites and platforms that turn it into a horrible coded mess like Huddler. Web 2.0 is supposed to be clean this is Web 0.5. People say everyone is bitching because of change. That would be correct assuming it is a change for the better. This is clearly a change for the worse. I'll check back every now and then, but I doubt I'll read this site everyday like I used to.

Yes. I can't even scroll down a page without it lagging like hell. This site drains` my computer and I have a newer mac. It is so poorly coded it kills me. I literally haven't gone to any threads in over three days, only this one to see if the mods are actually gonna change back or keep this crap. Sadly, I've found myself browsing superfuture more and more. I wish the mods could fix the issues, but I think this is a Huddler issue because I've seen other sites transition to this platform and its still the same months later.

That was the only downfall of the old platform, but surely there had to be a better solution then this.

On the note of the quoting, sure this has been mentioned, but if you delete one too many lines on the bottom your cursor gets stuck inside the quote box and I can't get it out.

We are actively working on this. The CTO is involved. Please read the new thread, give us a datapoint, and we'll go from there. From decreasing the size of the huge avatars, to cutting out extra lines above and below quotes.

We are also actively looking at the lag issue.

Cheers,

Fok.

I didn't want to point that out, but yeah, take Alexa with a grain of salt. Put it this way. We were ranked very high in India and Pakistan, and I don't think that we have that many Indian or Pakistani members. On the other hand, the spammers without a .cn login email had a .in one... I am looking closely at both google analytics and at other, more quality focused measures. I've been on this site for nearly 10 years. We are not just going to sit back and say "la-di-da". We are actually doing a lot of things behind the scenes to make the user experience better.

I am using Firefox now and the site seems to run a little faster. Still a tad laggy, but at least this is an improvement. I can read threads without getting a headache now nod[1].gif
