It's rather like the confusion about what exactly is a 'blazer'. I blame menswear retailers for this, who really should know better.

where did you get those from?

My favorite type of trench is the Duster. I've got a stylish Countryroad Australian duster that I take out in the winter months.

I absolutely loathe trench coats that hide buttons and that aren't trench coats.

I am sort of missing your point here. 1159[1].gif

The so called "looks" above are not bad but I wouldn't go for it. Do you really mean what do people think (I can't answer that) or did you mean what do you think (and I just told you that smile.gif )

these are nice coats but i'll also not choose these coats to wear it. the black color is quite attractive but i personally don't prefer long coats. well still good Job.

Details on this coat? I am liking it in black.

It's not a real trench coat unless it's double-breasted, hangs below the knee, and is made by Burberry or Aquascutum. The rest are wannabes.

I like those. Single breasted, shorter length. Good for light rain. I have one in tan and navy. But, as mentioned, they are not trench coats. I'd just call it a rain coat. Or a Mac. (purists will probably say it needs to be made by Macintosh in order to call it a "mac").

You could change the thread title to "Rain Coat Style". That would include trenches too.

what you have there is a short raincoat.

a trench must have, at least double breast with a convertible collar.
a belt and at least knee length. other small details are optional.
