Hi all,

Thanks for being here. We have been reading every single complaint, and we are doing everything within our power to respond to the valid complaints about the system.

The first problem we tackled was the excessive white space in the forum. In direct consultation with our partner's CTO, we have made changes to decrease this drastically, and I think that you will all agree that it is a significant improvement.

The changes are live, but it may take a 10-20 minutes for all the caches to clear. The highlight changes are:

1) Avatar size was decreased from 120px to 80px, greatly decreasing the vertical spacing taken up by avatars.

2) Because the avatars are smaller, we were able to considerably narrow the postbit.

3) We have taken on empty space above quotes and at the top of post bodies

Thanks guys. We are listening.

The next 2 items on our list are to decrease load speeds and to make changes to make the new Buying&Selling system more dynamic and interesting to browse.

Thanks for all of your input.

Cheers,

Fok.

Thanks. We are not perfect. The system is not perfect. But we do listen, and do whatever is in our power to make the place a better place to hang out (and hopefully, discuss clothes.)

Good catch. Click traffic stats. Down over 10% this month.

Numbers don't lie. I went from visiting this site multiple times per day, to once or twice a week.

According to the Alexa stats things have drastically improved in every category over the last 7 days. The forum is not dead like it was the last 3 weeks. There are obviously less posts and threads. Once the site speeds up, the activity will too.

Numbers lie regularly. There are liars, damn liars, and then there are statisticians? Never heard of that? I don't have time to explain all of this, but:

Alexa stats suck, and must be taken with grain of salt. People use Alexa because it's the only publicly accessible game in town. However, not even discussing the skew that Alexa can only "count" computers with the Alexa bar installed, here are a few things you should be aware of:

1) We limited registration from spam "countries", most importantly, India. We could open this up, and you'd see an instant spike in activity. I'm pretty sure most people don't really need cheap electronics and Canadian Viagra, however. You definitely don't need the latter if you don't get the "sexxxxy ladies clik here now".
2) Pageviews are counted differently on different types of platforms. For example, on VB, a reply counts as at least 3 pageviews. On the new system, they count as 1.
3) Traffic is actually up, according to Google Analytics, which is still flawed, but is a much better tracking system than is Alexa. There is a 10-15% increase in visitors, and about 5% increase in visits, post-conversion.

I need to post a set of articles on data analysis and interpretation. For example, a lot of SEO traffic is still being directed to the old B&S archives, which made activity in the new B&S classified seem slower. Yes, we made mistakes as well. However, this accounted for a lot of B&S traffic, including new and infrequent users and a steady stream of customers for sellers. The dropoff in this exacerbated the problems we created. Or, the other way around - the mistakes we made exacerbated the problems from the SEO traffic being split between the old B&S system and the new B&S classifieds.

By doing simple things like tagging your new FS threads, traffic from search engines will more quickly find the new B&S Classifieds. I've talked to Spoopoker about this, and he will actually write something up about this when he has the time.

There is always, always, always, a transitory period for users to adapt to any new system. Not saying that we couldn't have managed transition more smoothly, but I hope that you will come and visit more often, so that at some point, you will be able to enjoy looking at google archived screenshots, and laugh, like we laugh at screenshots from 2003.
