The new layout is wonderfull.

I get back from my annual rip to Monte Carlo and find this new layout waiting for me.... Yikes.

Way too much right hand margin dedicated to advertising spam. Let me make a suggestion to the admins.... Facebook and Google have tested the shit out of and optimized their sites to maximize the ad versus content ratio. If your right hand ad column is thicker than theirs, you are doing something very wrong.

Besides the annoying sidebar, tons of vertical space is being wasted as well which means a lot of scrolling. Also, all the hover effects and popups are making things really slow.

The number of threads per vertical inch is too low. It needs to be more dense.

To use Google again as a standard: Gmail is moving soon to a slightly less dense layout, but this is due to their emphasis on Priority Inbox and Search Mail. Threads are the opposite - you want to be able to see as many topics as possible.

This. I feel like I can see 5 threads on the screen before having to scroll down : (

I agree it is awful. My eyes literally hurt after going on this site. Lag is killing me. I nominate this platform as worse designed platform known to man. Go back to the tried and true platform.

It's just much bulkier than the original. The signal/noise ratio is a lot lower now, we used to be able to see 4-5 posts on screen at once time. Now it's 2, even if they're 2 word posts.

This actually depends on the size of your screen.

I recognize that, but 1280x800 has never seemed too small until SF 4.0.

Mines 2560 x 1440 and the most posts I can see at a time is 4. That's single line posts. I am disappoint.

terrible design, even down to tiny things like WYSIWYG button layout and icons

im not digging this new Layout as well ... way too much stuff going on .

I can see 2 posts with my 1280 x 800 MacBook screen, and utilizing my HP 1920 x 1080 screen I can see max, 3 posts at once.

It works for me, especially the BS forums. I suspect those with issues are using smartphones or the like. At least for me, on a laptop, it's a huge improvement. Good job.
