Need some style advice on which bow tie to get. I'm going to a friend's wedding and I think these bow ties are sick. I'm thinking of wearing a white suit with one of them, but I can't figure which one to buy since I'm on a budget.

Here's the link: http://www.pocketsquareclothing.com/online/shop-2/

Appreciate the help

unfortunately those appear to all be pre-tied bow ties. I say unfortunately because the colors are nice, but one should never, ever wear a pre-tied bow tie, much less to a wedding.

Actually don't mind it being pre-tied. Not sure how to tie one myself, but I think I'd rather just be able to put it on and swag it up like any other accessory. Would appreciate help choosing one still, thanks!

"Hey guys, I have these two babies and I'm going to shoot one of them in the head. Can you help me pick which one?"

I'm not trying to rag on you, but unless you're 17 and going to prom, you shouldn't be wearing a pre-tied bowtie, so the answer is "none of them." It took me about 10 minutes with a mirror and google to learn to tie one myself.

If someone put a gun to my head I'd pick the sports fan or the worker, but neither of those would go with a white suit. Speaking of white suits, refer back to the "17 and going to prom" thing.

Again, not trying to rag on you, but this is Style Forum. Style is kind of important.

+1

It's important not to take this the wrong way, but pre-tied bow ties are for children only. It's a half-step up from a clip-on tie. If you do not have someone to teach you how to tie a bow tie, I'm sure you can find a video or something on Youtube that will oblige.

As for the goods, I know barneys.com has some nice bow ties on sale, and I'm sure someone else can give you more ideas. But I'm afraid you'll be hard pressed to find someone here who won't tell you to stay away from pre-tied.

So what you are saying is that no one has ever pulled off a white suit. And the people who did wear one were "17 and going to prom" ? And yes obviously pulling off a white suit is not the easiest job but never say never. There are actually good looking people with confidence who can wear more extravagant attire without looking ridiculous in it. I am not saying that the man who made the thread is (no offence I don't know) but don't just scream that a white suit is a faux pas at a wedding.

Jeeze, so much hate for the pre-tied bow tie. Just wanted something to slip on quickly and casually like any other accessory.

You do realize where you are, right? Spend five mins and learn how to tie one. You wil lthen be able slip it on quickly, just like any other tie.

Slow down there, hoss; obviously I've struck a chord with you. You may be able to pull of a white suit; I don't know you, but as you yourself said, it's not an easy thing to pull off and you have to know all of the little details. I'm not one to pull it off, and I doubt this guy is either.

That said, if you want to see grown men in white suits, head down to South Beach; there are literally thousands of them. They're generally wearing pink or lavender shirts underneath. ;-)

Let's speed this process up instead of telling him how many seconds he'll need to tie/untie his bow-tie...

Haha :) Oh well here is how Hollywood does it:

I am not saying that Hollywood should be a role model to anyone.. but I like both looks. :satisfied:

'Casually'? I thought you wanted to wear it to a wedding? Since when is a wedding a casual affair? Do yourself a favour and get a real bow-tie; we aren't just nitpicking here, a real bow-tie really looks a lot better than a pre-tied one. Check out The Cordial Churchman for some very reasonably priced bows.

Ha, dude, those are totally tuxes... the racing stripes are a bit over the top for semi-formal attire. If you're gonna go with tuxes you might as well go for this:

(Kidding!)
