Calling Kitchen Experts - Faucet Talk

Being that this forum is full of experts on everything, I am hoping to crowd source an answer to a question I have. My kitchen faucet is broken - the plastic thingamajig that controls the water flow is busted and water shoots out the sides. I think it might be covered by warranty but have no idea what brand it is. Even if not covered by warranty, I can probably buy a replacement part so I don't have to put in a whole new faucet. Hoping someone here will somehow recognize the faucet and tell me what brand it is so I can work on getting a replacement or buying the part I need. I'm sure there is a faucet forum out there I could join to get an answer but I'm probably not willing to go to such lengths. Any help you guys have would be appreciated - this is my hail mary before giving up and actually going to Home Depot to buy a faucet.

It's going to cost more time and money trying to replace one part of the faucet than just replacing the faucet.

If you are handy, I'd recommend faucetdirect.com to find a replacement faucet. Swapping the whole head isn't that hard to do - I guarantee you can do it yourself, though you may need some help from a DIY book at the library... and I also guarantee you know someone who can help you do this.

A new faucet, even a quality one with a ceramic disk (avoid Home Depot in general, as the insides of those faucets are plastic and subject to breakage), should not set you back more than $200-300, and even cheaper are available.

Go to terrylove.com/forums for good advice on this sort of thing. I promise you if you just cut and paste what you have here over there, you will get great answers.

Looks like an American Standard faucet, but I can't find the actual model.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I suspected that it would be more time/energy/expense to track down a replacement than it's worth, but thought it worth spending a modicum of time searching because it's such a quick fix given that faucet disconnects with the black button where it meets the cable. The fact that it broke like this in normal usage is obviously not a ringing endorsement for whatever product this is though.

I might check with terryforums, thanks for the pointer.

Appreciate this reply as well. I thought it might be American Standard also but if so I guess it's discontinued. Unfortunately without taking the thing out I don't know how to find the product number.
