I was given the opportunity to the vew the site before it was launched. During beta the site was lightning fast. The main problems the adds and B&S were going to be fixed.
I and (I assume) many others would have complained if we knew the site would end up like this. Don't blame us.

FWIW I don't blame the mods one bit. They have ALWAYS been and continue to be fantastic hosts. I enjoyed SF for a good 3 years of my life. I visited the site almost everyday. The lag and spam were minor problems that the mods always attempted to fix. I think the owners/mods of SF joined the Huddler system without knowing, what they were getting into. I KNOW they purposely wouldn't do anything to ruin the experience and community of SF. As they seemed to enjoy the community themselves. I don't like those saying SF sold out. They did what they thought was best for the forum while trying to bring in some revenue that they as owners deserved. While I think SF as we know it is done, I KNOW the mods will do their best to fix the issues and bring a little of the old SF back.

As someone mentioned a few posts back, my browsing as reduced so much that I mainly only visit the threads I subscribe to and barely do any browsing at all. The site is unusable on an iPad, it is laughable.

At the beginning, it was like Rousseau's village in the Social Contract. The community was extremely small, and people were essentially just trading stuff, with some flipping (I flipped a few things even, back in about 2004-5.) As it grew though, it became unweildy, people started gaming the system on a large scale, and took up about 50% of moderation time and headache, and bizarre and difficult to enforce rules had to be enacted and enforced. IN the last 18 months, there were over 180 pages devoted to complaints about different abuses, about deficiencies in the system, etc...

So, we decided at when we partnered with the Huddler, that having them builld us a custom B&S system that would allow the market to dictate things would be one of our conditions. There were various ideas bandied around, including some awesome, but ultimately untenable ones (i.e. would require at least hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce), and eventually we decided on this system, which would govern user behavior mostly automatically, and be much easier to moderate and much less prone to abuse. Price drops, etc.. would no longer be enforced. The market would be allowed to evolve organically. The system was designed to give buyers an easier browsing system and sellers more exposure, with a minimal cost associated with increased privileges.

BTW,+ yes, a size tagging system is being built. Brand or "style" tags are much more difficult to produce and much less robust, so there are no immediate plans for those.

Obviously, our pricing system and usergroups are subject to change, since that is a real time experiment, though the usergroups created were based on the fact that there were different types of sellers, and different types of buyers, and different scenarios were tested.

I completely understand the rationale for replacing the previous B&S system that was becoming a nightmare to police but I believe that the current solution has also removed a lot of the free-wheeling, community appeal of the old version. In other words, the baby has been thrown out...

Perhaps this new system is an inevitable step in the growth of this web site, and who knows where it will end up, but I'm not sure it's a change for the better from my POV. I agree with many of the others' points - especially about listing multiple items per thread and the eBay feel. Sucks IMO.

Nevertheless, I have a ton of stuff that I haven't gotten around to selling so I'll give it a shot and we'll see...

LOL @ all you drama queens.

I am having a persistent glitch in the appearance of the control buttons for the "live feed" on the main page. The buttons don't appear to be where they should be. Not a big deal but definitely glitchy. See the circled portion of the screenshot below:

I'm using Firefox 3.6.18 on Windows XP Pro version 2002 SP3.

We actually did that... They should be completely replicated. Could you please describe how they are different on your monitor?

Basically the page is very pale which used to be blue. The quotes are a light blue etc.
I suppose there shouldn't be anything wrong with my monitor.
