Surely they can go back at the top out of the way which served us so well for so long. Annoying readers will not make them any more likely to buy from the advertisers.
- Where has the members list gone?
- Placing the 'submit' icon to the right of the preview button is counter intuitive and reversing them would make life very much easier.
- Finally having submitted a message, it takes very much longer to load than the original site
Re. the clear and submit - I know. But it's hardcoded in. Unfortunately, something we are going to have to live with and get used to. It's on top of the priority list if things to do.
The site also loads very fast for me, but the submissions take longer than they should. I'm going to bring this to the immediate attention of the developers.
Member list is on the front page, in the right hand margin.
The right hand margin is not going away. It's a feature of the new system which I actually liked (it drew me in, and I tend to like ads), but that's where j had a better feel than did I about people liking it. Luckily, There will be ad units, but also content, including hopefully, lots of reviews, links to editorial articles (stay tuned, we are trying to figure out a format for "Mike and Matt (Manton and Iammatt) in the morning,)
Unfortunately, some of our favorite stores, web or otherwise, have no feeds, so we are hoping that users will actually manually submit reviews. I am horrible at stuff like that, and it took me about 5 minutes to do mine (APC jeans - took the pictures from the Context webpage). It is really in all of our interests. It helps new users find information about specific items quickly, making people less likely to ask "what are APC jeans?" "Where do I buy Attolini at discount", which clutters up the main forums. I will probably set up an incentive system - the first person to hit 100 reviews (and remember, I will review them, and can delete them, so useless reviews do not count") will get a gift certificate and/or a custom title. Please feel free to suggest other incentives.
