Amazing article (scroll horizontally) and art.

As a bonus, look at the add for a suit made of 1/3 dacron, 1/3 worsted, 1/3 mohair

Notwithstanding, the prices in constant dollars remain very high and sometime even higher than the current prices for the same items.

This is very stylish even today. I love that jagged pool. That was when Playboy was really more about a "lifestyle" than bodily orifices.

Very interesting--thanks for posting. Seems to me that once you have a dining area overlooking the pool, full wall windows in the living area, and a fireplace in the bedroom, the Knoll chairs really are optional.

Cool place! I love the stone and expanses of dark wood walls. Here's two paintings of many I'd buy for that place if I had the cash for this stuff..

The fireplace is big enough for a pig on a spit.

I'd forgotten about the Spanish crendenza. That was a popular item then.

A de Kooning on the wall as well.

If Playboy did the same piece now, I wonder how much of the modern art would be replaced with plasma screen televisions. . .

Nothing says Swingin' Man About Town more than a leather wrapped circular bed. I wonder if it rotates a la Austin Powers...

Good question....fraught with implications, I wonder if we are living at the tail end of an "interest in art" period, doesn't Bill Gates have screens on the walls showing a variety of changing art works?

The one that I posted definitely rotates, but it is not electronic. We actually almost bought this one for our house, but it was going to be too big to get in through the old building. Our bedroom is half round, so it would have looked really cool.

He has a role as an arbiter of taste.
It's only gauche to those interested in the authentic.
We may be dragons watching the creation of a new world that doesn't believe in dragons.
