Home audio setup

I've got a pair of nice KEF speakers and a Denon receiver, but is it possible to have a high-quality listening experience without CDs? All I have is my iPod, which I imagine sucks as an input...What are your home audio setups?

You should read this thread: http://www.styleforum.net/forum/thread/56515/what-stereo-s-do-you-listen-to-what-do-you-want

And iPods can be a high quality source, depending on what you put on it, and how you play it back.

But isn't the fact they can't play lossless file types a serious drawback?

They can play lossless (ALC, AIFF, or WAV), and if you use something like the Wadia dock which can pull the original bits off the iPod, you can feed it into as high quality a digital-to-analog converter as you like. There are also some USB DACs that can be driven directly off an iPad.

I never ralized how much I'd downgraded my music by listening mostly to MP3's. I bought some SACD's to play through a PS3 and it's like I'm in the room with the performers.
