Couple annoyances/things I miss from the old forum:
1) Single daily digest
- all my forum subscriptions are listed in one giant digest
- would much prefer the old system, where each daily digest thread would have an email sent for each one

2) Daily digest new threads vs. updated threads separated
- all the new threads used to be listed first in the email at the top, then all the updated threads would be in another section, at the bottom
- I generally only care about the new threads; if I wanted updates on existing threads, I would have subscribed to those threads

One REALLY GLARING error in formatting:

When you go into edit a thread, and then submit the changes, the characters "A" are often inserted before the first word of the first sentence. I have no idea why this is happening. I keep having to manually remove it.

Also, is there a way to have the "plain text" option as a default?

Do you mean just scrolling around is lagging up, or what exactly? When I'm having trouble it's generally that the browser freezes up until everything on the page has finished loading (waiting for facebook, etc.) and then it is fine. If you could post a screen capture video that would help us tremendously. I haven't seen this happen, can we get your browser/OS and what editor you're using (I am guessing the simpler BBcode one) please? I don't think plain text by default is an option, sorry.
I do know that the editors, especially the rich text one, are being reconsidered currently and should be fixed/replaced in the short to medium term.

When I submitted a test classified, it gave me a link to see all my (category Other) classifieds:

Thanks J, that is a start. I have not been able to find that page, except for the link you sent. That link only has my B&S SW&D items. You would need a 2nd and 3rd link for MC and Other. It would prob be easier to just lump all 3 together. Although that works, IMO a KISS approach, of a single line item without all the other stuff would be better. You could edit, and close threads without needing to actually open each thread up.

 

Also, a BIG question about the B&S rules. I was told by you or LA Guy that "Lots" are OK to post in the B&S section. Say you have 2 Suits $500, you can post both suits in that one listing as it has a single price and no problem. What I'm starting to see in the B&S forum ("smart" people bend the rules I guess) is that you have a listing of both suits for $500 but then you say "I'd take $240 each to split them up" which defeats the purpose of the one item per listing. The old forum I had the link below with say 30 jackets, suits, etc. If this is the case I would just say "lot" everything for $2000 or I'd split them all up and give the prices $100 for this one, $50 for that one, $35 for another, etc. This is going to fall back into mega posts from the old forum (which I think are actually better for the forum atmosphere, but against the current rules). A clarification would be great on "lots" as it is not mentioned in the official B&S rules.

I think that we may actually allow multiple items in one B&S thread soon, but it may require an adjustment to how the premium memberships work, or a limit of one thread per category, or something to keep it fair. I will let you all know when we decide.

Is there anyway to customize or minimize aspects of the forum that we don't use or are redundant? I don't need the quick reply box to always be open, but I cant seem to find a way to hide it at all. I don't see why we need so much forum navigation at the top and bottom of threads either. It seems to just be clutter that takes away from what the focus of the site is. It just kind of feels like the forum platform is all software with design more of an afterthought. The new forum feels very cluttered with so many added different bits that really distract the user from viewing what you want them to view.

I took a screen shot of the top and bottom of this thread as an example of the redundancy in navigation.

Don't know if this was mentioned yet but when viewing the pictures in the classifieds you can only click previous/next to the pics that are in the same row. If there are 3 rows of pics you cannot click to the second or third row but have to close the viewer and click on a picture in the next row. I know its not a huge issue but it seems to be a small glitch that is a bit inconvenient.

 

This classified thread is a good example.

HUGE problem when navigating the new B&S: I can't get past the first page, as soon as I click on "pg2" or "next" the "Please wait" window pops up and stops the next page from loading, it's been 5min and the damn thing is still there asking me to wait.






I had the same problem yesterday also. I'm on firefox.

Ok, what I mean is, say I visit forum at 2:00 pm, I then leave and log out.

Now say I come back at 5:00 pm. With phpBB the default setting is that the only threads that show as "unread" are the ones with new posts since 2:00 pm. With Huddle forum, it looks like the threads that show as "unread" are ALL threads that I haven't read since the last post was made, including threads that I didn't read at 2:00 pm but that have not changed since then.

I only want to see as "unread" the threads that have actually changed since last time I logged in. I think this is default with all phpBB forums I've used.

What the hell are tags and how do we use them? Why is there a list of shit brands but nothing for KMW when I look through the options? Do we really want all those shit brands connected to SF?

Answers:
1) We haven't had time to cull the feed.
2) KMW is not sold by anyone but niche retailers, who generally do not have good product feeds, and we needed a base to start with. That said, we have convinced many of our affiliates to load their products, so you will see more SF friendly products. You can also add items manually.

Thanks, but once we have them, what do tags actually do? (sorry in advance for what I'm sure is a really dumb question).

Edit: OK, so maybe I get it. This is basically a little like tags in the old forum where each thread would be tagged by the OP or a smart ass, but in this system we choose from a bunch of preselected tags that are generated by content providers (or shills as the case my be) and we can add to that list. Why is it such a prominent feature? Is it basically to drive traffic to the site through google searches of those tag terms?
