method to remove dark edgetrim on shoes

I'm trying to find out the best way to remove the dark edgetrim (I have a pair of shoes that I'm convinced would look better with antique edgetrim).


Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

*I'm assuming that I just need to remove the dark edgetrim or am I missing something?
