Computer Help

My delightful Windows computer has decided to lock me out of my password protected user account. It gave me 1 warning 2 or 3 days ago about needing to change my password then "poof".

How do I get in and change it without hauling it in to a computer store?

You need a password recovery disk/usb key. You'll have to download the software from another computer. Saving that, you have to reinstall windows.

I know little about computer, but the best way is to return it to the store and when its done better have a copy of your password and if something like this happen again you don't have any problem. Anyways i do that often coz i always forget, hope i help.

You might be able to go into Safe Mode (keep tapping F8 like you're doing Morse Code just before Windows starts - timing is key) and can log in as administrator (which quite possibly won't be password protected, ironically). Then you go into the control panel and administer the login parameters of your regular user account. Then reboot your PC and ... voila.

Which version of Windows? There is usually a way around it.

This. Take it to a computer shop, as they will know how to do this (I could explain a how-to, but it wouldn't be easier).
