I feel the skill is skipping a generation, and the fate of nourishment of the American middle class rests on the shoulders of the prepared foods section at Whole Foods.

What happened?

Some of the best cooks I know are women. Actually, I'd say of the top 5 cooks I know, numbers 2-5 are all women.

Anyhoo, mm, stop being a ******* idiot. You are not that good yet, and this silly attitude is what will keep you from getting there. Of course there are women who are great cooks, some are terrible, whatever. Get over this stupidity of yours.

The M&M avatar certainly is a red flag.

+1

mgm, how old are you anyways? Given the responses, a little too young to be making overgeneralizations?

I'm not talking about the ones that go into the industry. Maybe it's just me, but I observe the tradition fading.

My girlfriend is a much better natural cook than I am. Cooking is a hobby for me, not something that I was taught or that comes naturally at all, so I cook more, and I try to learn new techniques and get better at them and obsess over things she would never concern herself with. Often I'm trying to impress her. She is comfortable with her skill level and the dishes she knows, and they are often great. If she experiments it is in a pretty limited way of changing little things she always does, or by applying a technique she knows to something new.

Currently, yes, I live at home with mother; father has taken to a mistress. Neither can cook properly.
