And I agree, partially, with the sentiments regarding loafers. The vast majority of them look like garbage or scream "meant for old age home." Precious few look good at my age (21) and even fewer are well made, to boot.
Sneakers scream two things to me: teenager/college student and athlete. The vast majority don't fall into these categories.
Further, if fashion is 25% clothing and the balance attitude, and the OP's attitude won't bear it, best not to force him into sneakers.
Sneakers seldom catch my eye, and if they do, it's because they're loud (not necessarily good or bad....but at least loud). It's a carefully chosen pair or boots or shoes that draw my compliments.
