casual belt to match burgundy shoes

Just purchased my first pair of burgundy shoes - AE Sutter (http://www.onlineshoes.com/mens-alle...alf-p_id192264) - and looking for matching belt.

Shoes were purchased to be worn primarily with chinos, cords & jeans - so belt should be casual in Fall/Winter/Spring. And made out of leather.

Ideally looking to spend <$50.

Would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks.

Go to Nordstroms with your shoes and see what matches

Congratulations on your purchase, they are nice indeed. Were it me, I would not use a matching belt of the same colour with casualwear, as are your intentions to do so. What I would recommend would be a two-tone belt that incorporates some burgundy with, perhaps Chili or even Cognac colours. It is better to wear contrasting and complimentary colours in the belt rather than outrightly matching the shoe colour. I would even consider wearing a canvas belt or some form of fabric to, again deliberately contrast the shoes, especially as casualwear.

Well......I like a casual woven belt with bucks, suede shoes, loafers, and even well worn but not highly polished derbies - the overall criteria meaning the 'attitude' of the shoe should be casual to go with the casual belt.

In my opinion the shoe is too formal to work well with a woven fabric belt. I think you need a leather belt with those shoes. It can be two tone if you like, or a 'casual' leather with prominent stitching etc. etc. But just not a fabric. Unless of course you intend to wear the shoes without polish etc. etc. until they have an aged look (at which point a woven belt would be fine.)

I'm sure other's won't agree with me - but that's my opinion.

Here you go - this one should last a long time and will never go in or out of style. It's nothing special but you'll wear it with jeans/khakis for decades - I promise.

I think a leather braided belt will work better than fabric belt. Just google for leather braided belt and you should get a bunch.

His burgundy belt doesn't look burgundy at all, it looks chili coloured

I want to bump this thread back up.  I too just purchased a pair of burgundy wingtips from ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/140610207300?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_500wt_1143) and I'm planning on wearing them with dark slim jeans or casual trousers. I'm looking for a belt to go with them that won't be too business-esque (I'm an academic and want to look put together, but not stuffy).

 

Anyone have specific suggestions? I was thinking of going with a canvas belt that contrasts... maybe tan or khaki? I could do leather too, but most of the leather belts I see online are a little too suit-ish for what I'm looking for.

I picked up a burgundy belt from www.leatherbelts.com that goes well with my burgundy AEs. It certainly isn't suit only and isn't the nicest belt money can buy, but it does work well with the shoes and the quality for the price is quite good, in my opinion.
