Help Buying a laptop

Hi Guys,

I am hoping some you guys can help me out. I need to buy a laptop. I use a computer to access the internet, run microsoft office/word processing, and music (not downloading free music, simply housing my itunes there). That is all.

I want to spend no more than 750 bucks. I went to best buy and saw some samsungs that I liked, and a sony. but I figured If I wanted a pair of nice jeans, I would find the best pair for a cheap price online etc. rather than paying full retail. Alas, I am not knowledgeable about laptops so I'm not sure where to begin. Can any one suggest a laptop that would work for what I want to do and in that budget? keeping in mind I want something that last a few yeas from a good company.

I would appreciate any help.

Go on ebay and buy an ASUS laptop.

I got one for my son to take to college. He's really liked it.

Agreed, ASUS all the way.

There is a thread about this alread, but I suppose searching is no longer common practice.

I was told a company called MSI is pretty good, you should check them out. I second the asus suggestion as well.

I searched for laptops when I posted and the only threads that came up were from several years ago.

Buy a celeron or an i3 processor based laptop. Both should be less then $500.

Yeah something with an i3 processor would be good. ASUS are great with warranty support and are generally quality products. I'd recommend them over Samsung and Sony.

As others have said, an i3 will suit you; with 4 gb ram and a 300-500gb harddrive depending on how much music you have... That should around $500, more or less for different brands/different specs.

I bought a Lenovo G560 about 6 months ago. Previously had used only Dells. It's a great buy with plenty of capacity and excellent speed. Now on sale at Fry's for $329.
