Does the actual 50% off Criterion sale START at B&N on July 12? I'm usually notified by either B&N or Criterion when the B&N 50% off sale starts, but haven't had one of those emails yet...

+1. They have 500odd films from the Criterion Collection. Definitely worth the money.

"Gimme Shelter" is absolutely riveting. Hells Angels and Hippies aren't a good mix. "Two Lane Blacktop" is a great one as well. 8 1/2 is considered Fellini's Masterpiece. It is very entertaining.

I'll probably get 8 1/2, Hunger, and that Yakuza-downward-spiral-romance movie. Maybe High & Low too. Or in the Realm of the Senses for some high class porn.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

I'd recommend The Third Man, M, Double Life of Veronique, For All Mankind (soundtrack by Brian Eno), Gimme Shelter, Repulsion, and High and Low (bought it on DVD, came out on Blu-Ray a month later, doh!). For me, these all stand up to repeated viewings.

Last sale I got The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus. Glad I saw 'em, can't imagine the next time I'll pull them out and watch them again.
