I am kinda new to this game but I think that clothing needs to be taken into context. I think NYRs outfit is fine for teaching middle(?) school where he is likely known as the well dressed teacher who has the flair and whimsy to wear colorful unique items. This would obviously be in poor taste at a funeral, a business meeting, or a law firm.
Another point is weather. I do think people in the spring/summer go overboard especially when the sun melts away the snow and the first warm days emerge. As a Michigander, I always found it somewhat humorous to see people bust out the shorts and tank tops when it hit 70 in March but then complain that 70 is freezing when we have 90+ degree humid days. Point is, people go overboard when the temperatures change and people want to make a statement that IT IS SUMMER!
That being said, I think NYRs outfit would benefit from shoes that are either darker brown or have some element of white in them. Also, a solid shirt would likely look best or a navy blazer or a polo shirt. Gingham strikes as more "country" and the bright orange pants scream tropical resort. I think HF's recommendation is apt here.
As for Gdl's critique and recommendation, I think it is well founded. I respect many of the posters here and sort of look up to you guys for advice and insight. I understand it can be tiresome to belabor certain points or make the same statements over and over,. However, one thing I would find helpful is that when one makes a critique or statement, do not be cryptic. Show us an example or point out something in a respectful, tasteful way on how someone can improve or what you don't like about something (and Gd;l, I am not referring specifically to you, you have made some great, honest critiques to me and others in the last few weeks and you are very helpful). I just get annoyed when someone says "This sucks" but offers no critique or suggestion to improve.
Again this is all from a "noobs" perspective.
