that was pretty clear. just wondering why this is seen as the epitome of a good fit?

it's not

Yeah, I don't think those look flattering on that guy. They have a better cut for NYR than that guy...Epaulet should get some camera time for their marketing.

Well, that fit is probably very appealing to the vast majority of people who read gq and follow the menswear tumblrs.

There's no denying that customer base, but that doesn't mean that epaulet doesn't make very nice things.

I have 2 pairs of chinos and 5 or 6 pairs of their wool or linen pants, as well as 3 shirts.

They're well priced and the quality is there. They don't need to be worn in the way that's advertised.

Ralph Lauren also endorses this look, would that imply anyone wearing Ralph Lauren should show up similarly turned out?

Here's another, I don't think advertisements are meant to be taken literally as stylistic recommendations.

A tripod would let you take pics outside in the sunlight or at least in a better-lit section of your home. It would also allow you to lower the camera angle so that the pic doesn't distort your proportions.

Alex a much better look for you when compared to those polo photos.

Looks good.

Black shoes would be much better.
Socks, also.
I only wear red pants at night.

I like epaulet and wear a lot of it. The styling is not how I would do it. It's out of context for me.

With this, you've got a few good pieces here that don't quite make a whole. The jacket screams cool casual, but the pants and the cuffs scream preppy and hipster. The belt needs to be thrown in the trash. Unless you're using it to deter theives. I think a lighter color, or even white, would better contrast the fruit flavored pants. And you need a haircut.
BTW - are the pants you're wearing and Thread wearing the same? What's that goofy ass looking white stripe? Some sort of selvedge affectation?

I agree with a lot of your acerbic posts Rambo but don't see how you think Liam has come a long way. I struggle to recall any pic he has posted when he has not had that filthy greasy looking jacket and matching chukkas, both of which should be binned at once if any progress is to be made.

Liam you said you had a couple of Barracuta jackets and yet you say the leather jacket is your summer option? So exactly when are we gonna see said Barracutas? In the middle of a north east winter?
I've posted multiple pics in barracutas, and it's Barbour waxed cotton, not leather.

Btw, are you recommending something better than waxed desert boots on the beach in the rain? I own other shoes, the weather is always shit.

Well, I suppose I'm a fan of the greasy jacket, but I'm more of a down and dirty, greasy guy myself, so I like that its not all fancy shmancy up in here. Mostly, I suppose its just the overall look. Much of his original shit was too big, too loose fitting, and he generally looked like a kid. Now, he looks like a young man. Plus, I like Liam, and I wanted to give him a compliment on what I think is the progress he is making, however incremental it may be.

^^

My only issue is the same colored belt as pants (and shoes) and those khaki's look like dad jeans.

thanks ed. lol, the khakis are new, from j crew. i got 3 pair in different colors. i like them, and i am a dad. smile.gif

the pants are actually ever so slightly darker than the belt, but only by a shade, so i guess its not really noticeable. the shoes are pretty much the same as the belt. this lack of contrast was pointed out by gdl as well in a previous post of mine.

what material/color belt would you suggest instead of the one i have on to remedy this issue?

thanks.
