I buy stuff that lasts second hand. My choices are classic (old people) clothes or looking two seasons behind. I'm happier with classics.
Huzzah! This would be fine if it weren't such a load of regurgitated bullshit that you've apparently -- and unfortunately -- fallen victim to. All you've done here is string a bunch of buzz words together in a way we're seen done ad nauseum on #menswear blogs and AAAC. It's ultimately empty and meaningless. There is no such thing as "classic" clothing or "stuff that lasts" to any significant degree more than most everything else. Sorry to burst your bubble.
The only word you're missing here is "timeless" -- which also doesn't mean ****.
Liam, I think you might actually look older if you tried to dress a little more your age. You're dressing more like you're past the hump of middle-age, and I understand that you're trying to look more mature, but I'm not sure if it actually helps...
Not trying to be rude, just my two-cents-worth.
Liam O, I get a strong Swimming Pool Library vibe from all your fits.
This raises the everlasting philosophical and social dilemma. Should you do what makes you comfortable or what makes you popular (granted those are not the same)? After watching my father choose the former for all his life, I've decided to be more compliant with society's norms. It worked wonders for me as I've transformed myself from being an outcast in high school to a quite likable and sociable person now. I blend common trends with my personality to create a modern, yet unique style, as I've been told quite a few times that people can recognize me without even seeing my face. Yet, that recognition stems not from looking clownish or like an old man. Rather, it's a classical yet modern choice of clothing that gets me constant praise from people, as well as a multitude of friends asking to shop for them or just for my opinion. Liam, you seem to tend being unique and different in a rebellious way. If you're happy with that, then so be it. But I think you would benefit from dressing more like your age.

Quote: Best look I've seen from you...
I've not fallen victim to anything, and you've not burst a bubble. I don't read menswear blogs, and I'm not really inclined to take the opinion of bloggers too seriously to begin with. By classic, I mean work appropriate. If I have money for clothing, its going towards a professional wardrobe that makes me employable, not an ed hardy shirt that will get me laid for the two weeks before it's dbag material. I've never been interested in looking cool or fashionable, I generally don't on the few occasions I've tried, and I just prefer to look respectable.
For the record, I only post work clothes on here. On the rare day off I get, I'm generally dressed more like this, assuming I have a reason I absolutely MUST put on pants and leave the house.
We don´t wear no Ed Hardy here, are you crazy? ( and notwithit doesn´t count XD) Lurk a bit more on SW&D to learn how to casually dress according to your age.
That fit doesn´t look bad, though all those shades of brown (shoes, pants, jacket and hair - i know you can´t change your hair but still) are a bit depressing.
