LOL. Of course attractive women would date a model rather than an average person. I look ridiculous in a sweater and tie, for instance - like a grown-up schoolboy.

Come on, you can do better!

You can argue this all day long. But it's obvious. Mall fashion Male models FTMFW!

FTFY.

Why not make it a fair fight and compare the mall store models to Suitsupply models? And I will even pick the most ridiculous fits.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Dear Reddit n00b, just wait till SF sprezz ur arse and then you will spend hours tying the perfect double fih with boner arch or stuffing silks in your chest pocket in the most sprezz way possible.

Suit supply looks way worse. It's like stripe mall shoppers trying too hard.

Women do not compliment t-shirts and jeans.

You're right, they don't compliment - but at least they don't tell you how "dressed up" (in a bad way) you look with your sweater and shirt. I take that as a compliment - I've been told "sweaters are for old fogeys".

In fact I do get complimented at work with my SF costumes, although it's usually by women in their 40's and 50's, a little too old for me

I am surrounded by diplomatics at work, which are used to wearing coat and tie since they were young...

Reevolving, how do you like the new Allen Edmonds collection?

I'm not a n00b.
Notice my join date.

+1. Those looks are trying too hard to be like MadMen.
The only response those outfits will ever get is "Why are you so dressed up?"
That means you've overdressed and sticking out like a sore thumb.

Others have already pointed out the trolliness of comparing regular dudes with catalogue models, but you're the better kind troll that occasionally raises valid points hidden under the cloak of the trolling, So, it's worth also pointing out that the other part of the equation you're either choosing to ignore or simply cannot fathom, is some people have grown beyond the dating scene stage of life. Appearing attractive to random birds doesn't really come into my choice of dress all that much any more. There are other, far more interesting & important reasons that can underpin how you want to look on a given day.

Anyway, some more fodder for you to compare to a mall fashion shoot...

Aye Aye Captain!
I'd love to hear these interesting and important reasons!
Like going to a Caddyshack themed party?
Holdfast, all you're missing is this to complete the outfit

Great point made by HF...SF is not made up of twenty- or thirty-somethings looking to get laid. Well, I'm sure there are plenty of guys here who do fit in to that category, but a lot of the guys posting in WAYWRN are older with wives and kids. You're actually suggesting they start dressing like a BR model so they can get more compliments from girls? You're comparing apples to oranges here. And it has already been stated ad nauseum, but if you don't look like a BR model, wearing their clothes isn't going to help get you more girls than if you wore anything else.

The guy is insanely jealous of people who have money (and people who post here, which he seems to equalize).
Among his threads (I am paraphrasing):
- How much do SFlers make?
- When do Hermes ties get out of fasion? (Disclaimer: I hate Hermes ties, but point still stands)
- Which career allows you to wear outfits posted on SF?
- ITT we post pictures of great outfits out of retailer catalogues
- Something with money..
- and other threads

He is justifying his miserable existience by trying to prove that what he can afford is just as good as the stuff posted here.
It has nothing to do the actual point being discussed, he is looking for straws.

Another thread successfully derailed by De-evolving. I actually tried to be helpful originally, which was clearly the wrong move. I like how he took Holdfast's outfit and then shows pictures of guys wearing captain's hats and ascots. Obviously if you add costume elements any outfit will look like a costume. Thats like commenting on a pic of some guy in a tux, then showing a pic of Mr. Peanut and saying "hey you're missing the top hat, monocle and cane!" If Holdfast was wearing a captain's hat and an ascot I'm sure it would not have been well received.

I'm honestly surprised he's made it 2500 posts without being banned given the level of trolling.

I'm married, so a caddyshack themed party is a higher priority than getting compliments from girls. I receive a fair amount of compliments from both sexes, though I stick out enough that folks probably never get beyond the "white guy in a jacket and tie" to the "why is he dressed up" line of thought.

I wear a huge amount of Banana Republic when I'm not in a jacket and tie. I've never had issues with their quality; it's probably my favorite brand for casual-wear. I get more praise for my appearance when in a tie than in a BR sweater.

I don't mind what people think about, I know I usually uploead pics of my fits but is for learning purposes. I have learned a lot of stuff in here and believe it or not, as long as I feel confident with what I'm wearing, that's all I care. If people think "he looks good" or "he looks like an old guy", I really don't care. The way I dress has helped me with my business and that's what I really care about.
