Gotta ask cause this is probably the right thread. Before I used to buy relaxed fit denim and now thats all a bunch of crap for running errands and house work. I just purchased a pair of raw denim thats classified as slim straight leg. Now the leg is much narrower than I am used to. I have kinda lurked here and I see a lot of self cuffing on denim, now is that better than having it hemmed? I plan on wearing with chukkas and or boots. I think cuffing it one time would be ok but when it gets too many folds its rather thick and takes away from the slimness of the pants.

Sounds trollish but again just need some advice. To cuff or to hem, that is the question or do I hem them just enough to cuff them once?

Thanks gents

I am in the same boat as you. I just brought my first pair of raw denim. It is all a matter of personal prefrence IMO. I think you can't go wrong with having them long enough to cuff just once.

So hem and cuff? Do you feel the leg opening is a lot smaller than your used to?

I tried rolling back a few pages cause I know he does it more often. But I couldn't find anything. Or didn't go back far enough...

I think you were looking for these, which I found through the gallery view.

I knew leopard print was in this year, but that's really going the extra mile, Tirailleur! wink.gif

A rare - possibly foolhardy - foray into denim + tie today. Apologies for autofocus' failings in the dim light of the full-length pic, but you should still get enough of an idea of what the overall look is like.

If you were to put the whole of casual outfits on a spectrum ranging from traditional country-ish inspired outfits at one end and SW&D-ish directional looks at the other, I'd say NOBD is my favourite at doing an adaptable middle-ground of smart everyman type of casual fit and a definite inspiration within that subset, so that's high praise indeed. I dare him to wear a purple instead of blue gingham though. ;)

Very nice, Holdfast.
I like the purple with the gray. Jeans seem a little short but maybe thats just the picture.

Thank you, HF. I like that description. Erm, I think... confused.gif

I haven't worn a tie and jeans since June 1991 though... And I wore a green gingham on the other page. Purple is for the pope smile.gif.
