WAYWRN: Classic Menswear, Casual Style - Page 48

Now this is much better in terms of critique, thank-you.

For some explanation,

1. The jeans are about as far from Clarkson as you can get - that's just a low blow! Clarkson's problem is wearing cheap, straight jeans that are way to tight and make his rather substantial belly even more prominent. That's hardly my problem. And the jeans are not in any way the same kind of style. He wouldn't know Japanese denim if it bit him on the arse.

2. The top isn't at all monotone. Clearly, one of the problems is photo quality - as I said, they were just done with the webcam on my Mac: the jeans are much darker in reality, the vest (not a cardigan) is straight brown but has texture to it, the shirt is a small purple gingham, the tweed jacket has a mix of browns and mustard. Almost nothing looks right in terms of colour in that photo and you can't see the textures, which are equally important. But you know, really, I am not sure I can be bothered going to the effort of taking proper photos, downloading and uploading etc... we'll see.

Love the huge smiles. PS - are those incotex you're rocking? icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Thanks. No, all the three pictured trousers are Loro Piana. They're pretty much my go-to shop for a summery wardrobe; the mint-green polo in the top pic and the pink-ish shirt in the right pic are also LP.

Not frumpy at all. Archaically British, yes.

Not arguing that point at all, the guy looked great. If you look at some of the stills though he wears some very high three buttoned (60s?) suits, which is what I was getting at.

I see. And the high three button is part of what I think of as frumpy. Steed's suit here is sleek and the probably is why I don't think it was.

I seem to recall Prince William wearing a navy suit after the wedding that was a high three button; it is supposed to be a very Saville Row cut. It, too, didn't look frumpy, but it too was sleek. In fact, I liked its very buttoned down look. It seemed appropriate for the occasion.

LOL, thanks. I've had that hat for ages, so it's been worn a lot. It's gotten pretty battered, not to mention soaked in various oceans & seas over the years. I guess that makes it easier to wear naturally. :)

Pretty good. Had a few commitments out there, which was the main reason for the trip, but combined that with a few extra days off in Athens to do some sight-seeing and another few days or so in the Ionian islands and on the beach. Weather was glorious and the food was awesome. Managed to avoid getting embroiled in any of the troubles they're having over there, though heard plenty of stories of woe, saw lots of protestors/marches, and riot police and the like trying to keep order. The strikes didn't really affect me though; was able to dodge the taxi strikes by using public transit and managed to avoid the general transit strike (including air travel) today by a matter of hours. Made me realise that however bad the UK (or US, come to that) economy is, we're having it easy compared to the giant never-ending clusterfuck that is the Greek economy.

It's worth it if you really want to show textures and colours (although getting colours right isn't always easy). It's hard to show – and judge, people... – fabrics/textures without decent pictures.

I have the 1.4 version of that lens. Beautiful pictures, but the zoom is unbearable. I should've gotten the 28mm or even 14mm.
