Thanks, I know. This is absolutely 100% because Mike started carrying these. My time is so precious, so when I first started really getting into shoes, before I had my kids, I'd putz around and try stuff on in Manhattan. I found Alden, liked the aesthetic and found the right fit in the right lasts. I also experimented with English shoes before that, but never got a last and size down. Because of that I threw a lot of money on shoes that didn't fit right. Now my time is too precious (I want to eat up every second I have with my kids while they are still little and actually enjoy me too) so I am not willing to sacrifice the time to go to Manhattan and try different lasts from different companies. I suppose its an extension of Foo's one-shoe concept, but in reality was a morphed "two-last" for me.

Now that these shoes are a quick ride from my place in Brooklyn, its hella easy for me to take 30 minutes and check em out in person. So I'm glad Epaulet started carrying these on top of their Alden models.

white trainers can be had for a small penny. is it important to be them from a hyped brand? are they better e.g. comfort, construction etc., etc.

the leather, at least on the older models, is very good and much better than most sneakers. The sole is also very durable.
However, neither are justification for the price. The value is in the shape and design. The profile is very nice and the design simple and minimalist.

White stan smiths, chucks, etc are cheaper alternatives and do well, but honestly CPs do it better.
you would've thought that someone else would see the niche for simple, high quality sneakers.

It's crazy what they retail for now though. A few years ago they were less than half the price.

tbh, white trainers are a functional gear, imo. i wouldn't wear them outside of a training facility. i'm probably aware of high quality sneakers, which are simple.

i have no idea what this cp's cost?

a lot? that's not even baller status according to sw&d rules. iirc, ludwig reiter sneakers are between € 280,- - 450,- msrp.

actually, i'm aware that plain white or black sneakeres have become somewhat like an sw&d uniform. things, i don't get, anyway.

these type of shoes are associated with certain clichés, at least in europe.

a. it's a chav thing.
b. worn by people, who cannot afford real footwear.
c. people, who want to make a youthful impression.
d. u.s. tourists hording through major european cities.

this is just out of my head and tbh fairly subjective. it just pops up in my head and gives me a chuckle.

btw, do you remember the adidas jogging high?

I've never been an Adidas man for shoes, fritzl, except for a pair of Adidas Nastase in the 80's (maybe even late 70's, not sure); remember those? They were a big hit back then. I don't like the Adidas stripes; not dynamic.

I played football on Puma (-> like Cruijf, as the only player in the Dutch national team; the rest played on Adidas), and when Nike came to The Netherlands (some time in the eighties, IIRC), I switched to Nike: the swoosh is dynamic. The Puma's were black of course, the only colour for football boots.

I like the CP's though. I'm curious what they look like IRL.
